SWEDESBORO, N.J. – The High Banks of Bridgeport Motorsports Park delivered another unforgettable night of side-by-side racing, dramatic finishes, and emotional Victory Lane celebrations as defending track champion Dillon Steuer pulled off one of the most exciting last-lap passes of the season to capture his first Danny’s Pizza Pizzazz Modified victory of 2026.
Matt Ellery celebrated his second Demers Heating & Cooling Sportsman triumph of the year with an emotional tribute to the late Stephane LaFrance, while Hunter Ploski won the Sportsman second Feature, Richie Page claimed Straight Up Construction Street Stock honors, and Wayne Scott continued his winning ways in the Victory Fuel Wingless Sprints.
For 29 laps and three quarters, it appeared Ryan Krachun was destined to park the Danny’s Pizza Pizzazz No. 51 in Victory Lane. Krachun took the white flag with a comfortable advantage and looked poised to earn a hard-fought victory.
But defending champion Dillon Steuer had one final charge left.
Closing rapidly over the final lap, Steuer dove to Krachun’s inside entering the final corner. The two drivers raced side-by-side through Turns Three and Four before drag racing to the checkered flag, with Steuer edging ahead in a breathtaking photo-worthy finish to steal the victory.
After enduring several frustrating weeks—including a violent frontstretch accident that forced the No. 6D team to regroup during a two-week break—the victory was especially rewarding.
“It was great to get a win after coming back from a couple of bad weeks,” Steuer said following the dramatic triumph.
Current point leader Ryan Godown completed the podium in third from his twelfth place starting position, followed by Brian Papiez and Dominick Buffalino. Neal Williams finished sixth ahead of Cale Ross, Kevin Hirthler, Sammy Martz Jr., and Billy Osmun to round out the top ten.
The Demers Heating & Cooling Sportsman feature provided both exciting racing and heartfelt emotion.
Rookie Brayden Morrison appeared headed toward his first career victory after leading much of the event, but heavy lapped traffic tightened the field as Matt Ellery methodically worked his way forward from seventh starting position.
The race changed dramatically when Morrison became involved with a lapped car, bringing out a caution that handed the lead to Ellery for the restart. Ellery capitalized on the opportunity and never looked back, racing to his second Bridgeport victory of the season.
Victory Lane quickly turned emotional as Ellery dedicated the win to Stephane LaFrance, the respected mastermind behind Trick Parts, whose sudden passing last week stunned the racing community.
Christopher Buffalino continued his impressive rookie campaign with another runner-up finish, followed by Ethan Bill in third. Jesse Hirthler crossed the line fourth with Matt Peck completing the top five. Tim Borror, Stephen Kemery, PJ Bozowski, Wayne Weaver, and Pete Serra rounded out the top ten.
Hunter Ploski raced to victory in the Sportsman second feature over Brian Rogers, Dylan Morris, Tom Carpenter, and Johnny Bangs.
Nick Sandone appeared to have the Straight Up Construction Street Stock feature under control before mechanical heartbreak struck. While leading the event, the rear end failed on the NS3 machine, ending what had been a dominant performance.
Richie Page seized the opportunity and drove to his second victory of the season ahead of Gary Klimeczak, Darren Cox, Scott Freed, and Spider Ensinger III.
Wayne Scott added another chapter to his impressive 2026 season by collecting yet another Victory Fuel Wingless Sprint feature win.
JR Fulper returned to competition after missing several races and rewarded the hard work of his crew with a runner-up finish. The result was especially impressive after the team rebuilt the No. 67 following a spectacular crash in Turns Three and Four earlier this season.
Jonathan Swanson finished third, followed by Stan Ploski III and Nate Smith to complete the top five.
Another exciting Saturday night of racing is now in the books as Bridgeport Motorsports Park continues to produce some of the closest, most competitive racing in the Northeast, with fans once again treated to edge-of-your-seat action from the opening green flag to the final checkered.
Be sure to visit Bridgeport next Saturday not for the Hollywood Movie Premiere and Mini Concert July 18. All details can be found on the Bridgeport website and Facebook page.
