The Bob Hilbert Sportswear Short Track Super Series (STSS) Fueled By Sunoco is no stranger to hosting events in Delaware.
Since 2015, 34 STSS Modified events and 25 STSS Sportsman programs have been contested inside Delaware state lines at Georgetown Speedway and Delaware International Speedway.
On Tuesday, Aug. 25 a new chapter will be written for the series with its debut at Middleford Speedway, an up-and-coming quarter-mile oval in Seaford, Del.
The inaugural ‘Clash at the Quarter-Mile Colosseum’ features the STSS Modifieds of the NJ Quality Drywall South Region and STSS Sportsman of the Belmont’s Garage South Region.
Middleford Speedway is a fast-rising venue in the Mid-Atlantic scene. The facility was purchased by Greg Mitchell in 2017. At that time, the quarter-mile oval had been completely overtaken by a motocross track and was completely gone. After years of rebuilding, Middleford Speedway reopened in Oct. 2020.
STSS Modifieds will compete in an A- and B-Main format, paying a total of 32 drivers. The 50-lap A-Main offers $5,000 to win, $1,000 for 10th and $500 to take the green flag. The B-Main pays $1,000 to the winner and $100 to start. The B-Main winner has the option of relinquishing the $1,000 and starting the A-Main ($500 green money).
The STSS Sportsman compete in an identical format to the Modifieds. The 25-lap A-Main pays $1,500 to win and $100 to start. The 12-lap B-Main pays $250 to the winner with the option of starting the A-Main ($100). Thirty-two Sportsman drivers will be paid.

Both divisions receive full points toward the respective STSS South Region championship battles.
Michael Maresca of Baldwinsville, N.Y., leads the STSS Modified NJ Quality Drywall South Region by 27 points over Alex Yankowski.
The STSS Sportsman Belmont’s Garage South Region is led by Elmer, N.J.’s Travis Hill by five points over Matt Peck and eight markers over Joe Toth.
