Your first win is always special and for 20-year-old Austin Beers it couldn’t have gotten any more special than this race. Bad weather and 24-hour delay could not stop young Austin Beers from getting his first NASCAR WMT win at Richmond Raceway. In only his second full season on the NASCAR WMT Austin was fastest in practice, fastest in qualifying and for a good portion of the 150 lap feature the fastest car in the race.

After a late race caution Austin pulled way convincingly and left the rest of the field to fight for second on back.

While many drivers had issues throughout the race like Tommy Catalano with a blown engine, Matt Hirschman lost power steering mid race, Ed McCarthy blew the rear end and Craig Lutz who didn’t turn a full lap due to issues with his rear end Austins day was almost flawless.

A mid race pit stop relegated him to mid pack but that was only a slight set back as he worked his way back to the front and the eventual win. The adjustments on his pit stop helped propel him to his first win.

JB Fortin, Max McLaughlin, Justin Bonsignore and Patrick Emerling rounded out the top 5.

The NASCAR WMT is now off for the next month. The next race will be Duel at the Dog 200 at Monadnock Speedway on Saturday May 6th.
