Tuesday June 23rd, 2026: Brandon Pierce along with Kevin Powell Speed Motorsports will be sporting a new look coming into the first leg of the Virginia Triple Crown this weekend. The Thunder Road Harley-Davidson 200 at South Boston Speedway is the first leg and Pierce will have Thunder Road Harley-Davidson of nearby Danville, Virginia as the primary sponsor sporting the traditional Harley-Davidson orange and black colors.
“The Thunder Road Harley-Davidson 200 at South Boston is my favorite race of the year for many reasons,” said Pierce. “I take a lot of pride in carrying Thunder Road as my primary sponsor for this race, especially with them being the title sponsor. It’s our family business and the South Boston area is a big part of our customer base at Thunder Road Harley-Davidson. I’ve always wanted to win this race as it’s a Late Model Stock crown jewel event along with the first race of the Virginia Triple Crown. It’s a fan favorite as well as a competitor favorite as this race always draws the best of the best and makes for a stacked field. South Boston is also where I started my career and was my home track so it’s always nice to go back and race where my career started. Thunder Road has supported this race for 13 consecutive years and this will be my 10th start in the Thunder Road 200. It’s always special to go and not only race in this event but do my part in helping to make sure it’s as big as it can be. 200 laps around South Boston is grueling, it’s always a very hot race and tests your equipment as well. I am looking forward to heading back to South Boston next week and I am excited to see where we stack up against some of the best competition in late model stock racing!”
Pierce’s father, Vann, the owner of the dealership, understands the value of local companies getting involved in regional auto racing. “South Boston is a very important part of our territory and this will be our 13th year of sponsoring this event,” said Vann Pierce. “It has gotten bigger each year and it enables us to bring our product directly to the people in the area. We are able to have some of our bikes at the track and interact with fans and our parade lap with bikes has become a fan favorite. On top of that all, the racetrack is wonderful to work with and they go out of their way to accommodate us and help us reach our customer base!”
South Boston Speedway general manager, Brandon Brown knows that supporting the companies who support auto racing is key to holding events like the Thunder Road Harley-Davidson 200. “Our relationship with Thunder Road Harley-Davidson is absolutely incredible,” Brown explained. “They are so passionate about racing and the support they give South Boston Speedway allows us to put on this crown jewel event and grow it to what it has become today. Working with Vann, JR, Brittany, Brandon and their entire team has been a pleasure of mine since I became General Manager here. We can’t wait for Saturday night to once again celebrate this great partnership.”
Action begins Saturday for the Thunder Road Harley-Davidson 200. Gates open at 11 a.m. with practice beginning at 1 p.m. and qualifying at 3:35 p.m. The Autograph session will be from 5 p.m. to 6 p.m., pre-race festivities begin at 6:30 p.m. with racing scheduled at 7 p.m. All of the racing can be seen streamed live on FloRacing.
