NORTH WILKESBORO, N.C. – Doug Coby and the Tommy Baldwin Racing team were back on the track Saturday night. The NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour made their debut at North Wilkesboro Speedway and Coby was in contention for the win in the final laps of the Brushy Mountain Powersports 150.
Just before the field took the white flag, a caution flag flew, lining up the action for a green-white-checkered finish. Coby restarted the Mayhew Tools No. 7NY in the second spot but fell back to eighth place in the final two laps, fighting a loose car.
The team overcame a spin near the halfway point to get themselves in contention to win. While racing three-wide with Burt Myers and Justin Bonsignore, Coby spun in turn one. He charged back through the field with fresh tires, then put himself in contention on the front row after a final pit stop later in the race.
