N. Woodstock, NH — In the weeks leading up to the annual Banquet of Champions, we will be having a 2023 Season Celebration for each of the six divisions that call White Mountain Motorsports Park home throughout the summer. After starting with the Dad’s 4 By Tool & Supply Kids Division, we’re ready to recap the Wayne’s Market Dwarf Cars. The second of three part-time White Mountain divisions is one of the most unique collections of cars in the North Country.
Scaled down versions of the coupes that once rocketed the early Northeast speedways now soar around the White Mountain high banks. Open-wheeled and utilizing a 1,000cc engine, Wayne’s Market Dwarf Cars put up lightning-fast laps on a bi-weekly basis to create thrilling racing action in their twin-segment feature events.
In 2023, Jason Wyman kept himself at the top almost the entire season, never once finishing outside the top-five throughout the season. Even after taking three wins, his championship hopes weren’t guaranteed as he was caught in a dead heat with Dave Gyger going into the final two events. Gyger found himself in the same predicament after earning a June victory and five runner-up finishes up to that point. In the end, Gyger received a rash of hard luck and Wyman stayed consistent enough to take the championship by four points.
Not to be overshadowed, a strong group of veterans, including Jeff Ainsworth, Chad Dufour and Ethan Tyrell kept the division fun as a group of newcomers invaded. 2023 Thunder Road Late Model champion Stephen Donahue jumped in a Wyman-owned Dwarf Car for the first time on July 22 and won that very same night while longtime Late Model pilot Luke Shannon jumped aboard Andy Hill’s machine to take down a win in August. Former Strictly Mini champion Luke Shannon, the younger, took to the Dwarf Cars full time this season for two podium finishes after getting his feet wet last season.
The division looks to grow in 2024 with the possibility of more one-off performances as Shannon and Donahue spread the word. The addition of Daniel Brofman, Ken Wright and Kyle Caulder this season also has officials excited for growth in the upcoming year.
White Mountain Motorsports Park has wrapped up the 2023 stock car racing season. The annual Banquet of Champions will celebrate the top runners of the 2023 season at the Littleton Elks Club on Saturday, December 2. Drivers and teams have until Saturday, November 18 to order banquet tickets.
The 2024 Schedule of Events will be out in the coming weeks. Updated license forms and rule books for the 2024 season have been released by the ACT office.
