February 2nd, 2024- One year after the tremendously successful sold-out season opener the NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour heads back to New Smyrna Speedway for their yearly visit to the World Series of Asphalt Stock Car Racing.
Last year’s eventual 2023 NASCAR Whelen Modified champion Ron Silk of Norwalk CT. started off his season with a win, his first of 5 wins on the season. His win came over Justin Bonsignore also with 5 wins who would chase Ron all season long to the championship race at Martinsville. Rising star on the NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour and EMPA 2023 John Blewett III Young Gun awardee, Austin Beers would finish third. All three drivers are entered in the season opening race with eyes on the 2024 championship.
This year 35 teams again are registered, bringing a large field of NASCAR Modifieds to the most southern track on the schedule. All the top stars of the series are entered along with several part timers including NASCAR Cup driver and fan favorite Ryan Preece, former NASCAR Cup driver Ryan Newman and NASCAR Xfinity driver in his new ride for 2024 in the Richard Gatureau owned Feetworks #1, Patrick Emerling.
The New Smyrna Beach Area Visitors Bureau 200 will roll off at 7:30 on Saturday February 10th. The full race day schedule will be released shortly. The 200-lap feature as well as the entire 2024 season will be broadcast live on FloRacing.
