GEORGETOWN, DE – April Showers.

The Friday, April 5 event at Georgetown Speedway has been postponed to next Friday, April 12.

After an accumulation of over four inches of rain spanning the last three days, and a cold forecast with high winds for race night, Georgetown Speedway has decided to postpone the event.

“It rained for three straight days,” Georgetown Speedway promoter Brett Deyo said. “We just won’t be able to give our competitors the surface we want. With the extreme cold and saturated facility, postponing to next Friday is the best decision for everyone.”

The postponed event will feature the Millman’s NAPA Modifieds ($3,000 to win), Blue Hen Dispose-All Crate 602 Sportsman ($1,000 to win), Southern Delaware Vintage Stock Cars, Delaware Super Trucks and Delmarva Chargers.\

The Rapid Tire Services USAC East Coast Sprint Cars – on the April 5 schedule – will not be on the April 12 docket.

Instead, the wingless warriors will return on their next scheduled date: Friday, May 17.

For the April 12 event, pit gates open at 4 p.m., with the grandstands unlocking at 5 p.m. Hot laps are slated for 6:20 p.m. with racing to follow at 7:15 p.m.

Grandstand admission is $20 for Adults, $16 for Seniors (ages 65 & up) and Students (ages 13-17). Kids (ages 9-12) are admitted for $10 and Children 8 and under are FREE.

Pit admission is $40 (ages 13 & up). Kids (ages 6-12) are admitted for $10 and Children ages 5 & under are $2.

The entire night of racing will be broadcast live on FloRacing (www.floracing.tv) via the annual subscription.

Georgetown Speedway, originally constructed by Melvin L. Joseph in 1949, is located at the intersection of Route 113 and Speedway Road in Georgetown, Del., just miles from the Delaware beaches and less than a 40-minute drive from Ocean City, Md.
