RIVERHEAD, N.Y. – Justin Bonsignore continued his streak of top-six finishes to open the NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour season on Sunday afternoon at Riverhead Raceway. Bonsignore brought the No. 51 Phoenix Communications machine home in third in the Miller Lite 200 presents Wayne Anderson. The New York native posted his 24th top-five finish in 28 career Whelen Modified Tour starts at Riverhead.

Bonsignore started fifth on Sunday, one day after a heavy mist in the air postponed the Miller Lite 200 Salutes Wayne Anderson. He would fall just outside the top-five early, but then charge back inside and remain there for the duration of the race. He was up to second at one point, but Austin Beers slid by late, eventually finishing second to winner Ron Silk.

“We were a little off today but all in all, a good day for our Phoenix Communications team,” Bonsignore said. “We will get back to work on continuing to work on our cars and be ready for Seekonk in a few weeks.”

Justin Bonsignore will return to the track at Seekonk Speedway for the NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour Seekonk 150 on Saturday, June 1.
