WALL, N.J. ~ Three-time driving champion Andrew Krause sliced through the field to take the win in the 40-lap Modified stock car main event at Wall Stadium Speedway Saturday night. It was his third win of the season and added to his point race lead.
Defending champ Derek Hopkinson of Milltown struggled with Jackson’s Jarret DiGiantomasso for the initial laps before taking the top spot. Pine Hill’s Joey Merlino and Jackson’s Blake Barney rounded out the top four before Krause slipped into fifth on lap five. Krause then advanced to fourth on lap 14 before charging into third on lap 20.
A three-car battle between Hopkinson, Barney and Krause then raged until Krause slid into second on lap 23. With Barney applying pressure from third, Krause hounded Hopkinson until finally advancing to the top spot with four laps remaining. Krause then raced on to the win followed by Barney and Eddie McCarthy of Brick who had started at the rear of the field after replacing the rear axle in his car. Hopkinson and Merlino were fourth and fifth.
Zach Lenardo of Iselin enjoyed the win in the 25-lapper for the Sportsman cars, taking the top spot after early leader Robert Sutphin spun with mechanical trouble in the early going. Ricky Collins of Willow Grove, Lanoka Harbor’s Jonathan Laureigh, Quinn Trimmer of Lavallette and Billy Both of Rahway wrapped up the top five.
Multi-time champion Scott Riggleman of Manchester was the popular winner of the 25-lapper for the Factory Stocks. Shanon Mongeau of Island Heights settled for second, with Rob Anderton and Bob Anderton, both of Howell, and Logan Fraser of Toms River completing the top five.
Brian Doyle of Medford, NY used an inside lane pass near half way to win the Limited Late Model 25-lap race. Early leader Mike Tillett of Bayville was the runner-up, with Pat Brown, James Moorman and Rick Giannino rounding out the top five.
Wall’s TJ Graves won the Fast 4 25-lapper after wrestling with team mate Alonzo Morales. Josh Barry, Jerry Stanzione and Joe Pressey were third through fifth.
Taking the lead on lap seven, Buddy Sload of Glenmoore, Pa. was the big winner in the JJ Lane Memorial 30-lap race for the touring ATQMRA TQ Midgets. Ryan Tidman, Tyler Ferris, Tyler Wagner and Kyle Taraska were second through fifth.
