Bryan Hulbert – TULSA, Okla. (September 27, 2024) Opening at Midnight on September 25, it only took 20 minutes for the entry count into the 40th running of the American Waste Control Tulsa Shootout powered by NOS Energy Drink to eclipse the century mark, and less than 24-hours to hit 400.
Comparing to last year’s pace, the rate entries are coming in is on a possible record setting pace, as it took until October 11, 2023, to clear 500 entries. The current record stands at 1,752 entries received for the 2024 event. Of those, 1,698 were confirmed to be in attendance among 709 Drivers from 42 states and five countries (USA, Aust. Can, Neth, NZ).
Always interesting to see who will get through first with the entry portal opens, Arizona’s Jace Thurein was the first to enter the 2025 event. In K&B Racing Restricted A-Class competition last year, Jace made it to a fifth-place finish in the sixth B-Feature; two spots shy of the LCQ. For his 2025 return, Thurein is currently entered in Restricted and A-Class.
Looking to who is returning to defend their Golden Driller triumph, two are already on the list.
Ashton Torgerson, who topped EVO Fuel Injection A-Class has entered and will compete in the four main stock and outlaw divisions. Likewise, Frank Flud, who picked up his third Joe’s Racing Products Stock Non-Wing Golden Driller last year will pursue his fifth overall Tulsa Shootout triumph with four entries submitted.
Overall, there are 438 entries currently listed on the Tulsa Shootout website. The complete listing of entries will be updated as often as possible at https://www.myracepass.com/events/523284/entries.
Entries can be submitted online 24/7 at https://www.myracepass.com/series/1531/registrations.
Early entry is $100 per class and will run through November 28, 2024. Starting November 29, 2024, the cost per class will be $125, and will close on December 13, 2024. After that, teams will have to enter at the event during check-in on Monday, December 30, 2024.
The entry blank has been mailed out to our competitor database, and can be returned to 1141 S. 83rd East Ave. Tulsa, OK 74112, or faxed to (918) 836-5517. Entries can also be phoned in to (918) 838-3777, or (918) 606-2592, Monday-Friday between 9:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. (CT).
A quick reminder to teams regarding car numbers.
We do not allow reflective numbers. If your numbers are borderline or not readable, you will need to fix them. You will be given one warning during practice to fix your numbers. Numbers not fixed by race time will result in disqualification, and you will not be allowed to enter the racetrack.
Non-Wing Classes must have a number on the nose of your car. The letter must be above the number and legible. Winged Classes must have numbers on both sideboards. All cars must have legible numbers on the tail tank. Car numbers are a max of three digits. That includes the use of a letter.
For example, a car can be No. 100, or No. 10x. Not No. 100x.
Remember, we have three people hand scoring because sometimes the transponder system does go down, they fall off the car, or just stop working. We need to be able to read all car numbers so you are not scored incorrectly and also to speed up time under caution. It also helps our infield crew to move cars around when a RACEceiver malfunctions. Contrast is important. Black on black with a hint of grey is not readable when a car is in motion, especially from a distance.
