A Sportsman Spotlight: Two-Day Empire State Showdown at Utica-Rome Speedway Sept. 20-21

VERNON, NY – A Sportsman spotlight.

Utica-Rome Speedway returns to action Friday-Saturday Sept. 20-21 with the Empire State Showdown, an event featuring the Taylor’s Trailers Crate 602 Sportsman as the headliner.

The two-day program was slated to be promoted by Reigel Promotions. However, Reigel Promotions opted out of the event and speedway management has put together a restructured event.

Short Track Super Series/Utica-Rome Speedway rules will be in effect for this event. Tire compounds are as follows: any American Racer left-front; American Racer 38 or harder right-front; American Racer 44 or harder left-rear; American Racer 48 or harder right-rear. Hoosier D300 or harder tires will be permitted in both the Crate 602 Sportsman and Limited Sportsman divisions.

Friday, September 20
*Taylor’s Trailers Crate 602 Sportsman Non-Winners’ Race – open to any driver without a Sportsman victory at Utica-Rome Speedway in 2024 – $300 to win plus Saturday guaranteed starting position ($250 value)
*Fastline Performance Limited Sportsman – Winner Guaranteed for Saturday Crate 602 Sportsman event ($250 value)
*SCDRA Four Cylinders
*Allstar & Junior Slingshots
*Open Practice for Saturday Crate 602 Sportsman – Two redraw positions awarded to fast timers

Friday Grandstand Admission: $10 – Kids 11 and under FREE
Friday Pit Admission: $40 (Non-Members) – $35 (Members) – $10 Kids (ages 6-12) – $2 Children ages 5 and under

Pit Gates Open: 3 p.m. – Grandstand Gates Open: 5 p.m. – Hot Laps: 6:30 p.m. – Racing: 7:30 p.m.

Saturday, September 21
*Empire State Showdown Taylor’s Trailers Crate 602 Sportsman – 50 laps, $2,400 to win – complete purse is as follows: 1 – $2,400; 2. $1,300; 3. $900; 4. $700; 5. $650; 6. $625; 7. $600; 8. $550; 9. $525; 10. $500; 11. $400; 12. $375; 13. $350; 14. $325; 15. $300; 16. $275; 17-Last. $250.

*All Crate 602 Sportsman qualifying for Empire State Showdown will be held Saturday

Saturday Grandstand Admission: $15 – Kids 11 and under FREE
Saturday Pit Admission: $45 (Non-Members) – $40 (Members) – $10 Kids (ages 6-12) – $2 Children ages 5 and under

Pit Gates Open: 2 p.m. – Grandstand Gates Open: 3 p.m. – Hot Laps: 5 p.m. – Racing: 6 p.m.


Weekend Pass Information:
Grandstand Weekend Pass: $20

Pit Area Weekend Pass: $80 (Non-Members) – $75 (Members) – $20 Kids (ages 6-12) – $4 Children ages 5 and under

Camping: $25 (entire weekend)
