Lancaster Motorplex Celebrates 2024 Season at Awards Banquet

LANCASTER, N.Y. (November 9, 2024) – Lancaster Motorplex hosted the 2024 awards ceremony on Saturday night at the Elks Club in Lancaster. The speedway honored their 2024 track champions, as well as the top ten in the point standings, as well as award winners. 

George Skora III from Eden, NY won his second track title in three seasons in the Insinger Performance/VP Race Fuels Sportsman. 2023 track champion Tony Carbone was second in points, 22 behind Skora. Tim Garlock, Shawn Nye, and divisional rookie Jake Christman completed the top five in points. The division had five different winners in 2024, Skora (2), Carbone (1), Nye (3), Jankowiak (2), and Mike Fiebelkorn Jr (1). 

Mark Hoch from West Seneca, NY retained his Monroe Extinguisher Street Stock championship. Dustin Novoa, Mike Dalfonso, Dave Johnson, and Gary Bartella were the top five in points. Hoch and Novoa tied with 4 wins each in the division, while Dalfonso also picked up a checkered flag this past season. 

Kyle Casper from Cheektowaga, NY used two wins to propel him to the 4 Cylinder track championship, just 12 points ahead of 2023 titlist Chris Deyoe Jr. Deyoe had a division-high 3 wins. Hunter McKay (1 win), Andy Danielwicz, and Mason Offhaus (1 win) finished in the top five in points. The track championship for Casper was the first time since 2006 that a non-Saturn won the track championship (Don Roesch). 

In the special series for the Rusty Diamond Cores Pro 4, it was Jimmy Dunkleman III earning the series crown, behind his two wins. Chris Deyoe Jr was second in points, and was followed in the standings by Mason Russo, Ryan Hessler, and Eric Black. Other winners in the division this year were Darren Lenhardt, Dave Milbrand, and Mike Meyers. 

Specialty awards included the track’s Rookie of the Year honors, which went to Sportsman driver Jake Christman, and 4 Cylinder driver Mikey Place. Most Improved Driver awards went to Tim Garlock (Sportsman), Kyle Schosek (Street Stocks), and Mason Offhaus (4 Cylinders). The Hard Luck award went to Mikey Place, Mike Dalfonso, and Alan Bookmiller. 

The tracks Dedication to Auto Racing Award went to pace car drivers Hal Lawrence and George Troester. The Spirit of Auto Racing Award went to Kalie Carbone and Shyanna Ling for their continued efforts in growing and running the King Wolf Production Big Wheel program that takes place each race night for those aged 3-12. The Sportsmanship award went to Jamie Pew. Jamie can be found on race nights helping anyone and everyone. 

Behind the efforts of the Friends of Lancaster Motorplex 50/50 sales, point fund monies were handed out to the drivers that were in attendance. The speedway recognized all those volunteers that sold 50/50 tickets throughout the season as part of the Friends of Lancaster Motorplex. Drivers in attendance also had the chance to win prizes from marketing partners VP Race Fuels, Towel City Tire, and Speed77.

Plans are beginning to take shape for the 2025 racing season, including the announcements about the return of the Must See Racing Sprint Cars on Saturday, May 17, the popular Nitro Night of Fire on Friday, July 11, and the NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour on Saturday, July 12. More dates and exciting racing action and touring series will be announced in the coming weeks.
