The ‘beasts of the northeast’ return for the second consecutive year in pursuit of a $7,500 top prize at the end of the 75-lap affair.
The Ocean County D-shaped oval was a mainstay on the SDS tour from 1998 to 2014 before a hiatus until last year’s return in 2024.
The late, great Bob McCreadie won the inaugural event back in June of 1998.
Savannah, N.Y.’s Matt Sheppard has more SDS victories than anyone at New Egypt Speedway. Sheppard, the 2007 Modified champion at New Egypt, has three wins to his credit coming 2014, 2007, and 2005.
Three drivers sit tied with two wins apiece in SDS competition at New Egypt.
Frenchtown, N.J.’s Billy Pauch Sr., the all-time winningest Modified driver at New Egypt, won his first in 2000 with the second coming in ‘05.
Unadilla, N.Y.’s Billy Decker also holds two SDS wins at New Egypt to his name, coming in ’01 and ’07.
Edwards, N.Y.’s Tim Fuller won his pair of races in back-to-back years, coming in 2005 and 2006.
Also, on the SDS win list at New Egypt Speedway are Brett Hearn (2002), Alan Johnson (2003), Keith Hoffman (2007), Rick Laubach (2013), and Anthony Perrego (2024).
Perrego, of Walden, N.Y., returns to New Egypt looking to add his name to the two-time winners list with the Super DIRTcar Series at New Egypt Speedway with his second consecutive win.
Sheppard meanwhile looks to claim his 99th career SDS victory and kick off his pursuit of his 11th career series championship.
Defending series champion Mat Williamson will also look to add his name to the New Egypt Speedway win list in the season opener of his series title defense.
A host of others, including Stewart Friesen, Alex Payne, Alex Yankowski, Ryan Godown, and more will all be in pursuit of the $7,500 payday and adding their names to the history books.
The Crate Sportsman and Four Cylinders complete the Saturday program.
