MIDDLETOWN, NY (April 28)……..Excitement is building as the season opening race of the 78th consecutive
year of stock car racing at Orange County Fair Speedway is now just a week away. Action is set for Sunday,
May 4 when M. Falanga Trucking presents a full program of qualifying and feature races for the DIRTcar Big-
Block Modifieds, Sportsman, and Street Stock divisions.
On race day, the speedway pits will open at 2:00 pm, the stands and unique Drive-In area at 3:00 pm. Race
cars will be on the five-eights-mile clay oval at 5:00 pm, with the evening’s first race taking the green flag at
6:00 pm.
“We’re well aware that it’s Sunday evening, and also that schools are still in session, so we’ll strive to have a
fast-paced program without any extended breaks,” says co-promoter Doug Dulgarian. “Our qualifying races for
the Modifieds and Sportsman are eight laps, six laps for the Street Stocks. The feature races are 30 laps
Modifieds, 20 laps Sportsman, and 15 laps Street Stocks.”
“We expects large fields in all three divisions,” adds co-promoter Brett Hearn. We have confirmation that both
recent Super DIRTcar Series (SDS) winner LJ Lombardo and runner-up Alex Yankowski are headed to
Middletown. Several other SDS drivers have also indicated they’re ready to support our races.” The 30-lap
“Joey Falanga Memorial” DIRTcar-sanctioned Modified feature will pay the winner $2,500.
“The support we’ve gotten from the region’s business community for our Big Series 2 is most
gratifying,” says Dulgarian. Each of the five races has a Presenting Sponsor. In addition to M. Falanga
Trucking for our upcoming opener, we appreciate the support from Escape Powersports (June Race 2),
