(Butler Township, Pa. 4-12-25) Evergreen Raceway’s season opening Winter Thaw, slated for Sunday, April 13, is unfortunately postponed due to weekend weather conditions.
The word comes from Rich Tobias, who is promoting the much-ballyhooed event and was to be the first in the special Series of “Thrills in the Hills” and is part of the Foley Action Track USA Extras.
“We understand that even though there may not be as much precipitation for Sunday, it’s still going to be damp in the morning and then windy and chilly during race time and I feel this is to big of an event to have everyone come out and have to sit through that,” said Tobias.
“We’ve had nothing but great feedback and we’re so excited to bring the SpeedSTRs and Slingshots back to Evergreen for the first time on over a decade, but it’s also important to me that everyone has an enjoyable time and the weather is not in our favor to do so.”
Currently is has been raining and at times snowing over the past 48 hours in the St. Johns area where the race track is located.
At the present time Tobias is working with track owner Jason Makarewicz to find a suitable date in order t run all four events he has scheduled for Evergreen.
“There are quite a few SpeedSTR and Slingshot teams and fans that have to travel some to get there and I wanted to put the word out now rather than wait until tomorrow so everyone can make alternate plans and the same goes for all of the Evergreen folks too,” added Tobias.
Evergreen Raceway’s Opening Day now moves to Sunday, May 4 at 2:00 pm with the Tour Type Modifieds headlining the day and joined by the Street Stocks, 4-Cylinders and Rotten-and-Forgotten.
