After Mother Nature has drastically impacted the start of the NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour season, the series is set for a return to North Wilkesboro Speedway this Sunday afternoon.

Justin Bonsignore is set to compete in the Phoenix Communications No. 51 for Kenneth Massa Motorsports, entering the event as the defending winner at the historic North Carolina oval. Bonsignore swept the Modified events at North Wilkesboro last October – winning both the NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour race en route to his fourth series title and the SMART Modified Tour event.

The New York native is excited to get back to one of NASCAR’s top facilities during a special week of competition that also includes the NASCAR Cup Series, NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series and CARS Tour.

“We had great speed at North Wilkesboro in the fall and we’re expecting to bring back a strong package for this one,” Bonsignore said. “Just like every year, you want to collect as many top-five finishes as possible early in the season to collect points and get yourself set up for the summer months. North Wilkesboro is a special place with a great atmosphere for racing. It should be electric with all of the NASCAR fans there. We’re excited.”

The schedule for NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour race day at North Wilkesboro on Sunday includes practice from 10:15-11:25 a.m., followed by qualifying at 12:45 p.m. and the drop of the green flag for the 150-lap event at 2 p.m. For those who are unable to make it, the event will be live on FloRacing.TV.
