Thompson, CT — Ronnie Williams and Stephen Kopcik brought the Monaco Modified Tri-Track Series to green for the RaceChoice.com 75 Wednesday night with Williams taking the early lead ahead of Patrick Emerling. After peeking to the inside, Emerling finally made the turn-three power-move to lead lap 18 before Joey Mucciacciaro’s hard lick with the third turn wall. With the choose-cone in play, Jake Johnson nabbed the lead on the ensuing restart underneath Emerling as Ron Silk entered the top three picture. Hard contact between Silk and Emerling in turn four on lap 40 saw both right their open-wheeled machines but it was Silk gaining the on-track advantage to begin knocking down Johnson’s seven-car-length lead.
Ryan Preece’s return home went up with a puff of smoke on lap 55 as Silk continued his chase of Johnson at the head of the pack with laps winding down. With five laps remaining, Silk began to breath down Johnson’s back at the start/finish line less than a car-length away. Taking the jump below, Silk would lead lap 71 as the right rear was clearly played out on the Johnson machine. Ron Silk continued his early season dominance of Thompson Speedway to claim his third-in-a-row with the RaceChoice.com 75 checkers. Jake Johnson held on for second over Stephen Kopcik, Jon McKennedy and Patrick Emerling to round out the top-five.
Rookie Austin Goff started off Wednesday’s feature action by leading the SK Light Modified field to green. Goff quickly pulled away from Meg Fuller while Icebreaker victor Nick Hovey began powering up through the field behind her. After eventually breaking his stalemate with Fuller, Hovey kept it cool and consistent in his chase of Stafford Springs driver Austin Goff but it was Goff who took down his ever SK Light Modified win with Hovey in tow and Meg Fuller just edging John O’Sullivan at the line for third.
After mechanical woes ended his Icebreaker early, Jason Sundeen led the charge in the opening of the Street Stock feature. A mirror full of ‘Leadfoot’ Larry Barnett turned into a side-by-side battle under the crossed flags, ten down with ten remaining. Larry Barnett poured it on thick to take his first Street Stock win of the season and 73rd career win with Jason Sundeen and Tony Macrino rounding out the top three.
The Late Model feature started off with plenty of side-by-side action after Nick Lascuola lost the pole from the onset with a missed shift under the green flag, giving the lead to Zach Robinson as Robinson walked away with a dominant lead. Meanwhile Lascuola, Icebreaker winner Brian Tagg, Jake Johnson and Cole Robie fought hard, swapped lanes and drove hard looking for inches over each over. The lap 19 caution for a spinning Jared Materas reracked the field while Brian Tagg dropped out with mechanical issues.
A hair-raising battle between Robinson, Johnson, Lascuola and Robie kept the fans on the edge of their seat but it was Zach Robinson who would take down his first win of the 2025 season followed by double-duty driver Jake Johnson and a hard-charging Manny Dias, coming from the rear to take third.
The Thompson Sunoco Modifieds started off sour with pole sitter Danny Cates losing all power under the green flag, leaving a battle of titans to lead the race. Keith Rocco and Todd Owen paced the field eight car lengths ahead of Derek Ramstrom and Jon Puleo. With ten laps down, Rocco, Owen and Puleo were under a blanket leading the way, fiddling with first as they switched lanes at breakneck speed. The three would cross under the twin checkers with Keith Rocco taking the win, Todd Owen in second and Jon Puleo in third.
Rookie Bill Porter brought the Mini Stock field to green for their main event with Tim Dorr and Dave Trudeau battling hard for second. A lap four tussle between Dorr and Porter gifted Trudeau the lead which the #97 took all the way to Thompson victory lane followed by Dorr and Rick Michalski.
Scott Cestodio took off with the lead in the Thunderstock Crown Vics to round out the opening Wednesday night program as Dylan Cabral made the jump to the outside around the #24 of Gregg Prevost and Icebreaker winner Ethan Williams. Williams’ chase to the front ended in the marbles high in turn four, the wall without losing any speed! In the end, Scott Cestodio took down his first win of the season followed by Dylan Cabral and Williams across the stripe.
