DYLAN SWINEHART MAKES LAST LAP LAST TURN PASS TO WIN NASCAR SPORTSMAN THRILLER

BECHTELSVILLE, PA. – Wow! What a night of racing action, again!

It was another night to remember Saturday night at Grandview Speedway, with intense and exciting racing all night long, and after the final checkered flag waved, Jared Umbenhaur of Richland, Pa. was able to score the victory in the 30-lap T.P. Trailer Modified main event, while Dylan Swinehart of Fleetwood, Pa. pulled of a last lap, last corner pass to win the 25-lap T.P. Truck Equipment Sportsman feature race.

Umbenhauer started fifteenth in the T.P. Trailer Modified main event, ran the outside lane to the front of the pack, engaged in a six lap side-by-side duel with Eddie Strada of Lake Ariel, Pa., eventually taking the lead on lap nineteen, then pulled away in the closing laps, scoring his first T.P. Trailer Modified win of the season, and in the process became the twelfth different feature winner in the division during the 2025 season.

Swinehart officially led only one lap in the 25-lap T.P. Truck Equipment Sportsman feature, the last one from turn four to the finish line! Swinehart started twelfth in the main event, steadily worked his way forward, joined a three car race for the lead by the half-way mark, engaged in a multi-time lead swapping battle with Xavier Sprague of Bath, Pa. from lap sixteen to the end of the race, winning a side-by-side drag race off turn four on the last lap to score a wildly exciting feature win, his first of the year and ninth of his career in the division.

The winners both received bonus money (Modified $300, Sportsman $200) from T.P. Trailers and Truck Equipment of Limerick, Pa., sponsors of the two divisions at Grandview Speedway in a race program run under the NASCAR Advance Auto Parts Weekly Series banner and sponsored by PWD Lubricants of Warminster, Pa.

The 30-lap T.P. Trailer Modified feature got off to a wild start, with Matt Yoder of Benton, Pa and Ron Haring Jr. of Alburtis, Pa. engaging in a side-by-side battle for two laps, before contact was made exiting turn two on lap two, which saw Yoder ending up in the wall collecting several cars in the process and shuffling the running order.

Recent feature winner Justin Grim of Orefield, Pa. took command on the restart, with Ryan Grim of Laurys Station, Pa., Eddie Strada, and Cody Manmiller of Philadelphia, Pa. all engaging in a great battle right behind the leader.

While this action was raging up front, Jared Umbenhauer who started 15th and Mike Gular of Harleysville, Pa. who started 16th were riding the outside groove of the Speedway and working their way to the front.

By lap nine, Justin Grim was leading, while Strada and Ryan Grim locked into a great race for second, while further back in the top ten a great race was happening between Gular, Chris Esposito of Telford, Pa., Ryan Watt of Boyertown, Pa., Louden Reimert of Oley, Pa. and a fast moving Duane Howard of Oley, Pa. who was on the move forward after starting in 22nd position.

A caution on lap eleven reset the field, and on the restart Strada made one big move passing Ryan Grim for second off turn four, followed by another pass by Justin Grim off turn two to become the new race leader on lap twelve.

Umbenhauer who restarted in fourth spot, continued his march forward, reaching second on lap fourteen, and quickly engaged in a battle for the lead with Strada, before a final caution for Ryan Grim, who had a mechanical breakdown end his good run, would reset the line up again on lap eighteen.

The restart line up saw Strada leading, Umbenhauer right alongside, followed by Justin Grim, Howard who was still marching forward, Ryan Watt, Cody Manmiller, Reimert, and Logan Watt of Boyertown, Pa. who was quickly advancing through the field, after being involved in a lap two mishap.

Following the restart green, Umbenhauer really put the pressure on Strada for the lead, taking the top spot in turn three to be scored the leader for lap nineteen, while some really intense racing was still raging between Ryan and Logan Watt, Manmiller, and Reimert who would be joined by Craig Von Dohren of Oley, Pa. who was also moving back through the pack after also being involved in the lap two caution.

The fast and furious action continued throughout the field in the closing laps, while Umbenhauer, who put on an exciting run to the front, built up a safe advantage over Strada, Howard and Justin Grim in the highly competitive feature race.

At the wave of the checkered flag, Umbenhauer pulled into victory lane, scoring his seventh career NASCAR Advance Auto Parts Weekly Series T.P. Trailer Modified win, followed by Strada who had yet another strong run, Howard who put on a stellar drive from 22nd spot, Justin Grim who scored another top five finish following his recent win, Ryan Watt who out battled his son for a top five, Logan Watt and Craig Von Dohren who both recovered from the early race mishap, Cody Manmiller, Louden Reimert and Jeff Strunk who made a late race charge from the back after also being involved in the lap two skirmish.

Qualifying heats for the 37 cars on hand were won by Matt Yoder, Justin Grim, Ron Haring Jr. and Ryan Beltz of Barto, Pa. with John Willman of Birdsboro, Pa. and Duane Howard winning the consolations.

Manmiller Electric sponsored a Cash Dash for the heat winners in honor of Ernie Saxton, the long-time track announcer who recently passed away, starting with a base payout of $300, but donations from various businesses and race fans pushed the winner’s total to $1445!!!!

Ryan Beltz won the 3-lap dash after an intense battle with Justin Grim to pick up the big cash payout, followed closely to the finish by Matt Yoder and Ron Haring Jr.

The T.P. Truck Equipment Sportsman feature saw Jason Graber of Bechtelsville, Pa. take the early lead before an unfortunate spin on lap five would send him to the rear of the pack and put Xavier Sprague into the lead spot.

One more quick caution on lap six would again reset the line-up, putting Brayden Shelton of Hatfield, Pa. on Sprague’s bumper, followed closely by Taylor Kramer of Coopersburg, Pa., Shannon Slaughter of Lititz, Pa., Brett Grim of Coplay, Pa., Brad Brightbill of Sinking Spring, Pa., along with TJ Mayberry of Sellersville, Pa. and Dylan Swinehart, who were all battling one another for the top positions.

Sprague and Shelton hooked up in a great crowd pleasing side-by-side race for the lead while Kramer and Grim locked into a battle for the next two spots.

Grim passed Kramer for third on lap eight, and quickly joined Sprague and Shelton for a super three-car race for the lead by lap ten, soon to be joined by a steadily advancing Swienhart who would then make it a four-car race for the lead by the half-way mark.

Shelton would suddenly pull to the infield with mechanical troubles on lap fourteen, ending the side-by-side battle for the lead, putting Swinehart into second spot.

As if the Sprague and Shelton battle wasn’t exciting enough, Swinehart quickly moved in on Sprague and another intense battle began for the lead.

The two drivers put on a clinic of fine racing, with both drivers switching lanes on different laps, and eventually the two started throwing sliders at each other, exchanging the lead in and out of the turns multiple times, with Sprague able to remain the leader each time they reached the starter’s stand.

Going down the backstretch on the final lap into turn three, the two swapped the lead again, with both drivers exiting turn four side by side in a race to the finish, with Swinehart winning by a bumper at the line, capturing the exciting feature victory.

Swinehart picked up his ninth career NASCAR Advance Auto Parts Weekly Series win in the division, followed by Sprague who had a fine race and career best Grandview finish, Brett Grim who ended some recent bad luck, TJ Mayberry for another good finish continuing a recent streak of good finishes, point leader Colin Cox of Perkasie, Pa and Brett Gilmore of Kutztown, Pa. who both made a late race charge, Gavyn Krupp of Barto, Pa. who charged forward from 18th starting spot, Slaughter for another top five, Addison Meitzler of Kempton, Pa. who was the race’s Hard Charger advancing from 23rd spot, and Adrianna Delliponti who advanced forward from her 21st place starting spot.

Qualifying heats for the 43 cars on hand were won by Brett Grim, Colton Perry of Topton, Pa., Kaitlyn Bailey of Alburtis, Pa and Brayden Shelton while Kenny Gilmore of Fleetwood, Pa. and Adrianna Delliponti won the consolations.
