New Egypt Speedway, snakebitten by weather in two prior attempts to host the Bob Hilbert Sportswear Short Track Super Series (STSS) Fueled By Sunoco, makes its third attempt on Thursday, August 21 with the annual ‘Dirty Jersey’ midweek special.
STSS Modifieds return to NJ Quality Drywall South Region competition racing 50 laps for $6,000 to the winner with the Belmont’s Garage STSS South Region Sportsman in a 25-lap, $1,500-to-win program.
Matt Sheppard of Savannah, N.Y., leads the NJ Quality Drywall South Region standings into New Egypt. Sheppard was a winner of the event at Pa.’s Action Track USA in May with a last-lap pass of Mike Gular.
Alex Payne of Canandaigua, N.Y., sits second, 25 points behind Sheppard followed by Dillon Steuer of Bohemia, N.Y. (-56), Anthony Perrego of Walden, N.Y. (-85) and Alex Yankowski of Covington Township, Pa. (-88).

Quebec’s Donovan Lussier and James Hill of Laurel, Del., are locked into a tie for the Belmont’s Garage South Region Sportsman lead with Stephen Kemery of Sicklerville, N.J., eight points behind in third.
