Three track champions (including the closest point race of the season) and five feature winners all in one action packed night of racing sponsored by VP Racing Fuels at the Bridgeport Motorsports Park!

Brian Rogers stole the show in the Ice Less LLC 602 Sportsman feature as he raced to his first ever feature win!  While Rogers led the field from the green flag to the checkered in the twenty-five lap caution free feature, the title of Track Champion was being determined behind the top five.  Jesse Hirthler was within striking distance of point leader, Joe Toth going into the final race of the season.  Hirthler made the handicap but Toth did not putting Hirthler in twelfth on the starting grid and Toth in seventeenth.

Rogers raced in front of the field with Billy Chester and Trent Willey deciding the runner-up position.  Craig Pelligrini and Charley Cossaboone rounded out the top five for most of the race.  HIrthler picked up several positions in the final laps to finish sixth.  Toth made it to the top ten late in the race but the four position difference gave Toth the Championship by less than twenty points.

It is Toth’s first Bridgeport title – the same track where he raced to his first Modified feature win several seasons ago.

Rogers’ victory was one for the underdogs!  “I’m an also ran,” Rogers said after his win.  “Never count out an ‘also ran’.”

Rogers debuted a new paint scheme on his No. 191 just one week earlier.  With Delaware Building Supply as a sponsor, Rogers had the car wrapped in wood grain.  It is quite a unique look that certainly draws attention to his title sponsor.

Rogers took the win over Chester, Willey, Pelligrini and Cossaboone.  Hirthler crossed the line in sixth followed by Wayne Weaver,  Brad Roberts, PJ Bozowski and Joe Toth.

Mike Hughes raced to his twelfth win of the season and his first Track Championship in the Insta Signs Plus Street Stocks.  Hughes had already collected the track title in the DA’s Auto Body & Repairs Rookie division in June.

Defending champion, Nick Sandone led the first eight laps before Hughes took the lead on lap nine.  Hughes drove to the win over Sandone.  Kevin Heckman won the battle for third over Jasen Geesaman and Steve Kent.

Colin Gale raced to victory in the Insta Signs Plus Four Cylinder feature.  Gale took the lead from Joe Garey, Sr. on the first lap and then led every lap to the checkered.  Rob Weil recorded his best finish of second followed by Jon Parker, Brian Moyer and Rober Kummerer.

Lee Allen raced behind the field on Saturday night.  He had already clinched the Track Championship and had a buyer for his No. 98B so he didn’t want to take any chances.  The sale will result in a new competitor in the Four Cylinder division next season.

Alex Bright doesn’t do a lot of racing any more but it didn’t show as he raced to the win in the USAC East Coast wingless sprint car feature on Saturday night.

Bright has only raced in about eight races this season.  Saturday night was just his second appearance in the Rodota Trucking No. 20.  Bright went from eighth to third on the first lap and then battled with Chris Allen, Jr. for the lead.  Thomas Radivoy, the Victory Fuel Wingless Sprint Champion, led the first five laps of the feature.

Bright took the lead on lap ten and then held off the challenges of Mike Butler to claim the win.  Radivoy finished third behind Bright and Butler.  Tommy Kunsman finished fourth with multi-time Champion, Steven Drevicki recovering from an early race incident to finish fifth.  Kyle Spence finished sixth followed by Joe Kata, Patrick Chilmonik and David Swanson.

Hayden Miller was the race leader in the early laps of the United Racing Club feature event before Davie Franek raced into the lead.  Miller continued in second until a lap sixteen restart that rearranged the top five in the running order.

It was Franek for the win over Adam Carberry, Mike Thompson, Hayden Miller and Mike Smith in the Lillick No. 7.
