Sportsman Modifieds, Super Stocks, Four Cylinder Stocks and Hobby Stocks on race car

(Tioga Center, NY 9-12-25) Since July, race cars have not taken to the track at Shangri-La II Speedway. However, the engines will once again roar and be heard atop the hill when racing resumes on Saturday afternoon, September 20.

Heading the day of stock car action will be he SUBLMTD Performance Apparel Sportsman Modifieds in a 30-lap feature.

In the two previous Sportsman Modified races at Shangri-La II, Nick Morich of Horseheads, NY achieved consecutive wins, demonstrating consistent performance against some very formidable competitors.

The Super Stocks are racing for $1000-to-win thanks to division sponsor Fixing Finger Lakes Foundations LLC of West Danby, NY. Fixing Finger Lakes Foundations LLC is run by Super Stock racer Bill Frisbie Jr., who has been a key supporter of not only the class but the track in general.

It will be the fourth time for the Super Stocks and thus far Mike Pollack of Freeland, Pa., won twice while Jason Duke from Candor, NY also notched a victory.

The class has contributed much to the racing on the ½-mile concrete oval by enabling passing, close competition, and close race outcomes.

The Four Cylinders and Hobby Stocks will each be making their fourth outings.

Local favorite Gene Purvis from Chemung, NY has twice picked up victories while Pennsylvania ace BJ Wambold parked his car in the Winners Circle as well.

Purvis is fresh off a championship at Chemung Speedrome. Wambold was recently in upstate New York competing at Oswego Speedway with the National Compact Tour during the Bud Classic Weekend and for the second time in as many years picked up the big win.

Those two may indeed have the hot hand but rest assured their respective trips to winning at Shangri-La II came under some intense pressure which will no doubt be served up yet again.

In the three races held to date for the Hobby Stocks, there were as many different winners. Glen Lippolis of Owego was the first to score a victory then came Horseheads Anthony Gullo followed most recently by Doug DeKay from Penn Yan, NY.

Like the previously mentioned classes, the Hobby Stocks have demonstrated their competitive capabilities and have proven to deliver an equally engaging racing experience as their counterparts.

On Friday, September 19, an open practice will be held starting at 3:00 pm and will run until 7:00 pm. Pit admission for open practice is $25 per person and grandstands are free.

Racing on Saturday gets underway at 1:00 pm. Pit admission is $40, all ages. Adult grandstand admission is $15, kids 12 and under are free.
