(Stafford Springs, CT)—After kicking off its 2025 season with the NAPA Spring Sizzler® in April, Stafford Motor Speedway is set to determine its 2025 track champion this Friday night, October 3rd with NAPA Auto Parts Champions Night. Below we will take you through the scenarios for each contender and how they can make themselves 2025 champions.
SK Modified® Division
Stafford’s premier weekly division sees Mikey Flynn and the #24 Ballyheigue Farms team holding a narrow 8-point advantage over Jon Puleo and the #7 Mr. Rooter Plumbing team. Michael Christopher, Jr. and the #82 New England Turf / Eastport Feeds / P.T. Watts team go into the final race third in the standings, 22 points behind Flynn. Keith Rocco and the #22 Avery Construction team are longshots to win the championship sitting 42 points behind Flynn.
Should Flynn record a top-4 finish this Friday night, he will clinch the championship no matter where the other 3 contenders finish. Should Puleo win the race, Flynn must not finish more than 3 positions behind Puleo or more than 4 positions behind if Puleo doesn’t win the race. Flynn also has to finish no more than 10 positions behind Christopher and no more than 21 positions behind Rocco. For Puleo to win the crown, he must finish at least 3 positions in front of Flynn if he wins and at least 4 spots in front of Flynn if he doesn’t win. Puleo also must finish no more than 6 positions behind Christopher and no more than 16 positions behind Rocco. Christopher has to finish at least 11 positions in front of Flynn and at least 8 positions in front of Puleo while not being more than 10 positions behind Rocco. Rocco will need to outscore Flynn by at least 21 positions, Puleo by at least 17 positions, and Christopher by 11 positions.
Late Model Division
The chase for the Late Model crown sees Paul Varricchio, Jr. and the #39 Tavern on the Trax team leading Adam Gray and the #97 Meadows Motor Cars team by 20 points. Chris Meyer and the #87 Mayday Oil team are 30 points behind Varricchio, with Kevin Gambacorta and the #23 Lavigne Law team tied with Andrew Durand and the #43 Universal Plastics team, 36 points behind Varricchio.
Varricchio can wrap the championship up by finishing in the top-11 regardless of where the other drivers finish. Otherwise Varriccho has to finish at least no more than 11 positions behind Gray, 14 positions behind Meyer if Meyer wins or 15 spots if Meyer doesn’t win. Varricchio also can’t finish more than 18 positions behind either Gambacorta or Meyer. Gray will need to finish at least 11 positions in front of Varriccho and no more than 4 positions behind Meyer or 8 positions behind Gambacorta or Durand. Meyer must outscore Varriccho by at least 16 positions and Gray by at least 5 positions while finishing no more than 3 positions behind Gambacorta and Durand. Gambacorta and Durand must be at least 19 positions in front of Varriccho and at least 7 positions in front of Gray to win the championship.
SK Light Division
Stafford’s SK Light Modified division sees Meghan Fuller and the #2 Propane Plus / P.T. Watts team enter the final race of the season with a 14 point advantage over Nickolas Hovey and the #16 Busy Bees Learning Center team. Also in the championship mix is Peter Bennett and the #50 gre6.com team and Amanda West and the #15 McKinney Construction team who are tied for third in the standings, 38 points behind Fuller.
Fuller can clinch the 2025 title with a top-7 finish regardless of the other contenders finish. Should Fuller not finish in the top-7 she would need to finish no more than 6 positions behind Hovey while also not finishing more than 18 positions behind both Bennett and West. Hovey will need to finish a minimum of 7 positions in front of Fuller while not being more than 12 positions behind either Bennett or West. Both Bennett and West will need to outscore Fuller by at least 20 positions and Hovey by at least 13 positions to claim the championship.
Limited Late Model Division
Travis Hydar and the #11 Hydar Construction team head into NAPA Champions Night with an almost unassailable 36 point lead over Jeremy Lavoie and the #6 L +S Equipment team and a 40 point lead over Rich Hammann and the #28 Striebel Trucking team. Hydar can make himself a champion in his rookie season of Limited Late Model competition by simply posting a top-19 finish this Friday night. Hydar’s cushion in the standings means that Lavoie will have to outscore him by at least 19 positions and not be more than 1 position behind Hammann while Hammann must outpace Hydar by at least 21 positions and Lavoie by at least 2 positions.
Street Stock Division
The Street Stock championship will be decided with a showdown between Travis Downey and the #42 P.J. Ladola & Sons Contracting team and the #67 Faith Construction team of Aaron Plemons. Downey can clinch his second consecutive Street Stock title with a top-17 finish. If Downey finishes outside the top-17, he must be no more than 16 positions behind Plemons. Plemons must outscore Downey by at least 17 positions to claim the championship.
