Winston-Salem, North Carolina, March 19, 2026 For the third consecutive year, a Long Island based broadcast team will bring fans all the action from the third annual SMART Modified Tour presented by Pace-O-Matic King of the Modifieds presented by Dominion Energy, scheduled for March 20–21 at South Boston Speedway.
Veteran motorsports broadcasters Bob Dillner and Matt Dillner will call the race from the booth, while reporter Derek Pernesiglio will provide pit-side coverage throughout the event. The two-day showcase will be broadcast live on FloRacing.
With $20,000 to win plus lap money, the King of the Modifieds has quickly established itself as one of the most notable Modified races on the annual calendar.
“In such a short amount of time, the King of the Modifieds has become a crown jewel,” said Bob Dillner. “This is something that people look forward to all year long. The entry list for this year’s race is stout. After all, it’s the richest Modified race currently in the country. FloRacing is backing this up by bringing even more production value into this year’s broadcast, which as a racing fan I appreciate. I can’t wait to work with everyone on the broadcast at South Boston Speedway.”
Last year’s event featured 33 cars competing across 125 laps, continuing the trend of attracting top Modified competitors from across the East Coast. The 2025 race was won by “Big Money” Matt Hirschman, who led the final 49 laps on his way to victory.
“It’s pretty hard to bet against Matt Hirschman,” said reporter Derek Pernesiglio. “He doesn’t have that nickname for nothing. When the money’s on the line, he shows up. However, it’s getting tougher and tougher for Matt every year when names like Patrick Emerling, Luke Baldwin, Ryan Newman, and Brandon Ward are in the field. I’m just excited to get back down in the trenches once again to work alongside people who are not only quality broadcasters but also good friends. I can’t thank the folks at FloRacing enough for this marvelous opportunity.”
Qualifying for the King of the Modifieds takes place Friday, March 20, with complete qualifying coverage and the redraw broadcast live on FloRacing.
Race day festivities on Saturday, March 21 begin at 11:45 AM with the Pace-O-Matic Pit Party for the SMART Modified Tour before transitioning into the day’s pre-race activities with the first green flag to fall at 2pm.
Additional racing action will feature:
- Hitachi Energy Late Model Stocks competing in a 100-lap feature
- The Southern Ground Pounders Club running a 35-lap main event
All races will be broadcast live on FloRacing.
