EMPORIA, Va. – Virginia native and recent CARS Tour winner Conner Jones will pilot the No. 16VA Pace-O-Matic Modified for Sadler-Stanley Racing in the SMART Modified Tour event at Dominion Raceway on Saturday, April 4.
In the 99-lap Flying VA Classic, Jones will become the fourth different driver to wheel the No. 16VA this season on the SMART Modified Tour. Team co-owner Hermie Sadler, Connor Hall and Elliott Sadler have all driven the entry. The best finisher of the three was Elliott Sadler, who finished fifth in the King of the Modifieds at South Boston Speedway.
The Dominion event will be the SMART Modified Tour debut for Jones, who also has many NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series starts on his resume.
“I’m excited to get the opportunity to drive for Sadler-Stanley Racing in a PSR Products prepared car at Dominion,” Jones said. “We had some good runs at New Smyrna during the World Series in February with PSR, and I am hoping to take the speed and momentum we built there to Dominion Raceway. Dominion is my home track and I’m really excited to get behind the wheel.”
Sadler-Stanley Racing co-owner Hermie Sadler said the opportunities to put different drivers in the No. 16VA is what it is all about.
“This year has been fun with the way we have approached the No. 16VA and the driver lineup we have put together has been stout,” Hermie Sadler said. “This is another chance to put a talented driver and a Virginia native in the seat to see what he can do. It also provides our team the opportunity to grow, and learn everything we can, with a variety of drivers. I expect Conner and the team to be fast at Dominion.”
The schedule for the Flying VA Classic at Dominion Raceway includes SMART Modified Tour practice from 2:55-3:40 p.m., followed by qualifying at 5:15 p.m., and the scheduled drop of the green flag at 7 p.m.
