(May 1, 2026): Billy Pauch Jr. of Frenchtown, NJ remained unbeaten at
Georgetown Speedway this season as he won his second Millman’s Napa Auto Parts Modified
feature in as many attempts on Friday evening. Pauch worked his way up from his row five
starting position to grab the top spot with just five laps remaining. He then held off an equally
fast Danny Bouc and withstood a mechanical issue in his car over the final 2 laps to take home
the $3000 top prize on Phil’s Electrical Service “Night at the Races”.
“I felt the left rear shock fall off with 2 laps to go and I was just able to hold on, a couple more
laps and Danny (Bouc) probably would have beaten me,” explained Pauch in the Ad-Art Signs
victory lane, ”The track was as good as I’ve seen it, when the 8th and 9th starters finish in the
top 2 that says a lot.”
Rick Laubach grabbed the lead at the start of the 25 lap main event from pole sitter HJ Bunting
to pace the field on the opening lap as fifth starter Cole Stangle wasted no time moving into the
third position by the end of that first circuit. Pauch was quickly on the move in the opening laps,
as he took 6th from Mike Gular and then moved into fifth past Jordan Watson on lap 6. Laubach
continued to pace the field at the front being chased by Bunting and Stangle, with Pauch now
battling Joseph Watson side by side for the 4th position. Pauch finally wrestled the spot away on
lap 10, and one lap later saw the first caution of the race for Jordan Long who had dumped
quite a bit of fluid on the track and was slow on the backstretch heading for the pit area.
The restart saw Bunting get the best of Laubach for the lead, only to see it negated as Jordan
Watson broke the driveshaft on his #1J and brought out a quick yellow. The ensuing restart was
not as kind to Bunting as Laubach not only held the lead but Stangle and Pauch both motored
by him as well. A lap later and it was Pauch motoring into second and now zeroing in on
Laubach. Danny Bouc cracked the top five on lap 15 for the first time as his car was now coming
to life. Lap 18 saw Jay Wimbrow III slow the action as he stopped on the speedway in turn three.
The Delaware restart saw Pauch choose the outside of the second row (first double file row),
and used that to slingshot under Laubach in turn one as Bouc charged by two cars and was on
the duo’s bumper down the backstretch making it a three car battle for the lead! They would
race like this for another lap before Pauch surged into the lead, just before the final yellow was
displayed for a tangle involving HJ Bunting in turn two. With just 5 laps remaining, the single file
restart saw Bouc go to the outside of Laubach and challenge for the second position. Bouc
roared by on the backstretch and immediately set his sights on the leader. He quickly closed in
on Pauch, getting within a car length of him. Several times Bouc got alongside Pauch over the
final laps only to see Pauch pull back in front on the exit of the corners. Pauch held on, broken
shock and all, to win his 16th career feature at the track.
The broken shock was discovered while on the scale in the pits, as Pauch needed help from a
wrecker to tow him to victory lane. Bouc finished a close second, as Laubach ended a very solid
run in the third position. Cole Stangle rebounded back to cross the line 4th, and 14th starter
Ryan Godown completed the top five.
Scott Hitchen, the All-time winningest 602 Crate Sportsman driver at Georgetown, added
another victory to his resume as he won for the 23rd time in his career. Hitchens grabbed the
lead from early leader Joe Toth on a lap 7 restart, then held off Bryce Bashore for the victory in
the Blue Hen Dispose-All 602 Sportsman 20 lap feature event. Bashore, who beat Hitchens in
the opener last month, settled for second on this night. Adam White raced up from his 9th
starting position to finish third, after a spirited battle with last October winner Thomas Sherby
who had also challenged Hitchens for the lead midway thru this event. Sherby settled for fourth
and Ryan Simmons held on for fifth.
The Delaware Super Trucks 12 lap feature was won by DJ Dewey as he took the lead from Cole
Lingo and Mackensie Williams with 1 lap remaining for the victory, after the three had a race
long battle for the lead. Lingo finished second with Williams spinning in the final turn. Carl
Walker finished third, followed by Gary Aaron and Chris “Tippy” Martinez.
The Little Lincoln 12 lap feature was a crowd pleaser with the top 4 all racing under a blanket for
the final few laps. Eric Reed brought his #E1 home first holding off last week’s winner Scott
Calhoun by just a car length. Calhoun started the race last and was running second by lap 3, but
could not get by Reed, who led wire to wire. Jordan Herbert came home third, followed by Kirk
Lawson, who used the far outside groove several times during the race to make the battle for
the lead three-wide. Buck Stevens rounded out the top five.
Jay Lowman won the 12 lap Delmarva Charger feature. Lowman took the lead from opening
night winner Tami Collier at the conclusion of lap one and pulled away to win the non-stop
event comfortably. Ashley Merritt finished second, followed by Tami Collier, Rachel Truitt and
Rachel Walls.
The next event coming up at Georgetown Speedway will be the Delaware Diamond Clash on
Wednesday, May 13th when the World of Outlaw Late Model Series joins forces with the Super
DirtCar Series for an epic two division show! The World of Outlaw Late Models will battle for
$20,000 to win in the Visit Delaware 51, while the SuperDirt Series Modifieds compete in the
Millman’s Napa Auto Parts Delaware Diamond 50 for $7500 to win.
Pit gates will open at 3pm, with the grandstands opening at 4pm, Hot laps will be at 6:30pm and
racing gets underway at 7:15pm.
