AFTON, NY – Twenty years after the first Short Track SuperNationals took place at Afton Motorsports Park in October 2006, the “Working Man’s Race” lives on.
The 17th edition of the Short Track SuperNationals again offers an affordable Columbus Day Weekend alternative Friday, Oct. 9 and Saturday, Oct. 10.
The Saturday program is headlined by the Bob Hilbert Sportswear Short Track Super Series (STSS) Fueled By Sunoco Modifieds in a 50-lap, $4,000-to-win, non-points-paying main event. Cody Higbie is the defending “Working Man’s Race” Modified winner.
Also on Saturday is the John Maynard Memorial for FWD Four Cylinders, Limited Sportsman and an “open show” for the Mohawk Valley Vintage Dirt Modified Racing Series.
Friday’s racing includes the STSS Sportsman racing for a $1,500 top prize in a non-points event plus the Shirley Shootout for Factory Stocks, Mini Modifieds and practice rounds for the STSS Modifieds (two drivers transfer automatically to the Saturday Beyea Custom Headers Redraw).
For Friday, gates open at 3:30 p.m., with the drivers’ meeting at 5:40 p.m., hot laps at 6 p.m. and racing at 7 p.m.
Friday grandstand admission is $15 (ages 14 and up), $13 (Seniors ages 62 and up, Veterans and Students ages 9-13) and FREE for Children ages 8 and under.
Pit admission is $45 (ages 14 and up), $25 (ages 5-13) and $2 (ages 0-4).
On Saturday, gates open at 2 p.m., with a 4 p.m. drivers’ meeting, hot laps at 4:30 p.m. and racing at 5:30 p.m.
Saturday grandstand admission is $25 (ages 14 and up), $20 (Seniors ages 62 and up, Veterans and Students ages 9-13) and FREE for Children ages 8 and under.
Pit admission is $45 (ages 14 and up), $25 (ages 5-13) and $2 (ages 0-4).
Weekend grandstand admission is $35 (ages 14 and up) and $30 (Seniors ages 62 and over, Veterans and Students ages 9-13).
Weekend pit admission is $85 (ages 14 and up), $45 (ages 5-13) and $4 (ages 0-4).
There is a weather date of Sunday (Oct. 11) if needed.
