Mountain Creek Releases 2022 Schedule

Eighteen races and nine exciting weekends are on the schedule for the 2022 season at Mountain Creek Speedway. Getting into a pattern of doing things is the main focus for the staff and competitors this year. At the beginning of last season track owners and promoters, Adam and Rebecca Stewart came up with the idea of doing two-day weekend shows at the speedway by the creek consisting of flat kart racing on Saturday and outlaw kart racing Sunday afternoons.

The results were met with positive reviews, giving the flat kart racers a short-track Saturday night feel with the outlaw kart competitors racing Sunday afternoons, ending early enough for families to keep a portion of the weekend before the Monday grind. “We’re very excited about how things went last year, said promoter, Adam Stewart. Our biggest thing was to keep it simple and get into a pattern doing a simple schedule everyone can understand.”

The hopes are the schedule will help increase awareness and popularity of the speedway while also having a business pattern of operation. The popularity of Mountain Creek Speedway soared during the 2021 season with the track being talked about in numerous media formats like NASCAR on NBC and Fox Sports, the popular Dale Jr. Download podcast and print media like Dirt Empire Magazine and Speed Sport Magazine. When the track isn’t racing, it’s busy Monday through Friday with testing and practice sessions for everything from flat karts to national midgets. The track will also be available for testing and practice days throughout the year. Those wishing to reserve rental or testing days can contact Jason Queen at (828)413-6890 for details and availability.

Cash Bowyer, son of former NASCAR Cup series driver and NASCAR on Fox broadcaster, Clint Bowyer dominated the Beginner Box Stock portion of the Chad Bush Clash presented by Martin Truex Jr. Motorsports. The two-day charity event to benefit one of the track’s beloved racers raised over $12,000 with 100% of the support going to benefit the Cabarrus Healthcare Foundation in Chad Bush’s name. Chad Bush, a weekly competitor since the tracks inception and a huge supporter of the speedway was diagnosed with cancer in 2016 after 22 years of remission. Bush, who competes in the mini-modified division at Mountain Creek Speedway, is also a car builder and fabricator who locked up the track championship while undergoing cancer treatments this year.

Bowyer, in the #14 Rush Truck Centers entry started on the pole by virtue of winning his heat. His only challenge for the lead came from Stetson Swink on a late race restart. Swink passed Bowyer in turn three, only to have Bowyer go back to the top spot as the two battled in turn one. At the line it was Bowyer taking the win with Brexton Busch second, John Marshall Pursley third with Jackson Darnell and Stetson Swink rounding out the top five. In the Cadet division it was Cameron Hyler leading wire to wire in the 15 lap A-main. Easton Thomas was able to close in lapped traffic but when cleared, Hyler was able to open the gap. TJ Pursley was third with Easton Jarrard and Ellie Messer completing the top five.

Tony Rhinehart picked up his very first win in the Yamaha 450 Stock feature. Rhinehart was challenged for the lead in the opening stages of the race by Chad Bush. Bush got crossed up on a restart losing valuable track positioning the process, giving second to teammate Kyle Shano. Shano could only come within one second of the leader and no closer as he settled for second with Andrew Mattesen third. Adam Stewart was fourth with Chad Bush fading to fifth.

Nobody was going to touch Zoey Smith in the Box Stock A-Main. Smith started on the pole and took off and hid from the numerous battles for position from second on back. Beckham Malone was holding onto a solid second place until a late race charge by Brody Measmer and Rhylen Watkins from fourth and sixth. Measmer was able to close in the waining laps but not close enough with a career best for Watkins in third. Beckham Malone and Gavin Marlin completed the top five. Austin Thompson was credited with the win Open division feature win.

This concludes the racing for the calendar year at Mountain Creek Speedway. The track will be available for testing and practice days throughout the winter. Truex Jr. Supports Charity Race at Mountain Creek

The 2017 NASCAR Cup Series Champion Martin Truex Jr. has signed on as the title sponsor for the inaugural The Chad Bush Clash coming up later this month, November 20th and 21st at Mountain Creek Speedway. The two-day, Saturday/Sunday event will feature flat kart racing on Saturday and outlaw kart racing on Sunday with 100% of the support going to benefit the Cabarrus Healthcare Foundation in Chad Bush’s name. Chad Bush, a weekly competitor since the tracks inception and a huge supporter of the speedway was diagnosed with Cancer in 2016 after 22 years of remission.

“Chad has been a part of the racing family at the Creek from our very first season, said track owners and promoters Adam and Rebecca Stewart. He is truly dedicated to the sport of racing and helping others. It comes as no surprise that Chad would want to give back even when he is fighting his own battle. That’s the kind of heart he has, a giving heart. Mountain Creek is honored to have the opportunity to host the Chad Bush Clash!”

Bush, who competes in the mini-modified division at Mountain Creek Speedway, is also a car builder and fabricator who locked up the track championship while undergoing cancer treatments this year. Martin Truex Jr. and his longtime girlfriend, Sherry Pollex have been huge advocates for cancer awareness. Pollex and Truex Jr. have worked to support childhood and ovarian cancer initiatives through the Martin Truex Jr Foundation which was established in 2007.

“We’re honored to be a part of anything that involves racing and helping out cancer patients. Chad is one of the toughest guys we know, said Martin Truex Jr and Sherry Pollex. We are so proud of his efforts to help other patients while he is going through his own battle. We hope this inspires others to reach out and do something for someone in their community that is going through a tough time!”

The two day event will see upwards of seventeen divisions of racing take to the speedway by the creek. Businesses are also joining in with smaller sponsorships of each division racing in the Chad Bush Clash. A link to donate to the event has also been established through the Cabarrus Healthcare Foundation. https://cabarrushealthcarefoundation.org/donate-3rd-party/ All donations will see 100% of the support going to charity.

Gate openings for both days will be 1pm with practice starting at 3pm. The track will also be available for testing and practice days throughout the year. Those wishing to reserve rental or testing days can contact Jason Queen at (828)413-6890 for details and availability.
