On a date that will live forever in American history twenty years later Riverhead Raceway owners Eddie & Connie Partridge and Tom Gatz will honor the heroes who came to the forefront on September 11th, 2001 along with our most recent heroes who worked tirelessly in the fight against Covid-19. A Tribute To Heroes presented by Optimum Business is set this Saturday evening with the annual First Responders Gut & Go Enduro and National Stock Demolition Derby championship joining the NASCAR Advance Auto Parts Weekly Series stock cars.

Previously the Tribute To Heroes presented by Optimum Business was known as First Responders night offering 50% off general admission ticket prices to police, firefighter, EMT and military personnel with active ID shown at the GA window. When the Covid-19 worldwide pandemic struck early in 2020 a new generation of heroes emerged in our society. With that in mind Riverhead Raceway management wanted to expand the half off offer to include frontline hospital workers. Doctors, nurses, emergency room staff and hospital workers who endured endless hours as the worldwide pandemic struck they along with police, firefighter, EMT and military personnel will receive 50% off for a Tribute To Heroes presented by Optimum Business.

On track racing finds the Buzz Chew Chevrolet NASCARModifieds going to post for a 50-lap feature event their final tune-up before the NASCARWhelen Modified Tour event September 18th. Three divisions will contest the third and final leg of the Miller Lite Triple Crown Series with the MLTCS champion to be crowned after the 20-lap Figure Eight, 30-lap Super Pro Truck and 30-lap INEX Legend Race Car events. The Mini Stocks will run a 20-lap event.

For a Tribute To Heroes presented by Optimum Business the 4/6-Cylinder Gut & Go Enduro limited to police, firefighter, EMT and military members in years past will be expanded to include any doctors, nurses, emergency room staff or hospital workers. Like the 50% discount offer for general admission, the participants for this Gut & Go Enduro must provide active ID to compete and pay the normal pit entry fee. NYPD officer Fred Grover of Huntington who is an instructor in the city police academy won the 30-lap race in 2019.

With the National Stock Demolition Derby not held during the shortened 2020 season John Palmeri of Lindenhurst comes to the 2021 event as the defending event champion off his 2019 victory. Rather than use 8-Cylinder cars for the 2021 National Stock Demolition Derby championship the event will be limited to the more readily available 4/6-Cylinder cars. Joey Palmeri Jr. of Lindenhurst who narrowly lost out in ’19 to his brother along with Jason Savoy of Lake Panamoka, Nicholas Malverty of Spring Hill, Fl., Rob Savoy of Selden, Ryan Zukowski of Riverhead, George Astacio of Shirley and many, many more will be gunning for the big victory.

Qualifying will start at 4:30 pm with spectator gates opening at 4:00 pm. Adult admission is $30 or $15 for police, firefighter, EMT, military, doctors, nurses, emergency room staff and hospital workers with active ID. Kids 6-12 are $10 with 5 and under free, tickets available at the track on race day only. Our live stream available on Riverheadraceway.Tv  starts at 4:15 pm.
