Karter Beattie earned his third straight Box Stock win of the 2022 season Sunday evening at Mountain Creek Speedway. Fast qualifier and heat winner Payton Johnson was looking to sweep the day as he lead early in the twenty lap A-Main but was overhauled for the lead on a lap eight restart by Beattie with an inside pass in turn one. Payton Johnson would have to settle for second . Behind Johnson was a mad scramble for positions but when the checkered flag fell Spencer Bradshaw, Liam Kane and Harry Stallard completed the top five.
With over sixteen entries the youngsters in the Cadet division was split into two main events. Mason Treader won the first main event with Gavin Thompson and Carson McKee rounding out the podium. Wyatt Linker almost never made it to the green when he lost a chain rolling onto the track. After a quick pit stop Linker started fifth and drove to the win with Camden Ludy second and Calloway Harpe, third.

Stetson Swink led wire-to-wire in the Beginner Box Stock main event. Swink started on the pole and survived a first lap accident involving Brooklyn Newman, Adalynn Owens, Brexton Busch, Jackson Darnell and Jaxon Walawender. Drivers started jockeying for position when racing resumed which allowed Brexton Busch, who restarted in eleventh to start methodically picking his way through the field. Swink was too strong on this day as Busch would run out of time and had to settle for second. Dylan Boremann and Tanner Tucker completed the top five.

It was a flawless day for Ryan Pepicelli in the Yamaha 450 Outlaws. Pepicelli who set quick time, led every lap of his heat and every lap of the main event to win for the very first time at the speedway by the creek. Dylan Beard, who admittedly, was lacking forward drive settled for second. Lou Mattesen was third with Nick Hatton and Richard Miller rounding out the top five.

The next race for outlaw karts will be May, 15th. When the track isn’t racing, it’s busy Monday through Friday with testing and practice sessions for everything from flat karts to national midgets. The track will also be available for testing and practice days throughout the year. Those wishing to reserve rental or testing days can contact Jason Queen at (828)413-6890 for details and availability.
