‘Blast at the Beach’ Short Track Super Series Event Postponed to Wednesday, August 31

GEORGETOWN, DE – Postponed.

Race fans in Georgetown will have to wait one more day for the ninth annual Melon 1 & Sussex Diesel ‘Blast at the Beach’ has been postponed to Wednesday, August 31 at Georgetown Speedway.

A forecast of strong storms with damaging winds rolling into the area during race time forced speedway management and Bob Hilbert Sportswear Short Track Super Series (STSS) Fueled By Sunoco officials to make the decision to utilize the scheduled rain date.

The STSS Modifieds take part in a 35-lap, $6,000-to-win feature event in what will be Round No. 6 of the Hurlock Auto & Speed Supply South Region.

The STSS Crate 602 Sportsman join the program, going 25-laps for a $1,500 top prize. The event serves as Round No. 4 of the Belmont’s Garage South Region.

The Delaware Super Trucks and Delmarva Chargers also join the program for 12-lap, features-only programs.

For the August 31 event, pit gates open at 4 p.m. with grandstand gates following at 5 p.m. Hot laps are slated to begin at 6:20 p.m. with racing set for 7:15 p.m.

Grandstand admission is $25 for Adults and $20 for Seniors (ages 65 & up) and Students (ages 13-17). Kids (ages 9-12) admission is $10 and Children 8 & under get in FREE.

Pit admission is $35 (ages 13 & up). Kids (ages 6-12) pit admission is $10 and $2 for Children ages 5 & under.

The entire night of racing, along with every STSS race in 2022, will be broadcast LIVE on FloRacing (www.floracing.tv).

Georgetown Speedway, originally constructed by Melvin L. Joseph in 1949, is located at the intersection of Route 113 and Speedway Road in Georgetown, Del., just miles from the Delaware beaches and less than a 40-minute drive from Ocean City, Md.
