– All Race of Champions Asphalt Series to Compete for Additional Purse Money as Part of Presque Isle Downs & Casino Race of Champions Weekend –

North East, PA – (September 12, 2022) – The countdown is on to the “the Greatest Tradition in Modified Racing”. The winner of the 72nd Annual Lucas Oil Race of Champions will pocket $15,072.72. On Sunday, September now set for the September 25, the Race of Champions Modified Series will compete in the 72nd Annual Lucas Oil Race of Champions 250 in Northeast, Pa., event at Lake Erie Speedway. The 250-lap race for the Race of Champions Modified Series brings a conclusion to Presque Isle Downs & Casino Race of Champions Weekend, which is now become a staple at the ultra-modern Lake Erie Speedway.

The Race of Champions Sportsman Modified Series will compete in the “PID&C 72” and race for $3,072.72-to-win.

The Race of Champions Super Stock Series will compete once again in the “National Parts Peddler 40” and compete for $2,072.72-to-win. The Race of Champions Super Stock Series has presented races with $1,000-to-win as a minimum purse for the last two seasons, with the Rick Wylie Classic “48” at Holland (N.Y.) International Speedway and the Race of Champions Weekend events have regularly paid more.

The Race of Champions Late Model Series will run for $2,072.72-to-win, while the Race of Champions Rocket Performance 602 Sportsman Modified Series will have $372.72 on the line for the winner.

The Race of Champions Street Stock Series will compete for $572.72-to-win.

The Race of Champions FOAR Score Four Cylinder Dash Series will once again take part in the “Triple Dash Challenge” competing for their name on the “Fred Rounds Cup” as the overall winner of the weekend. Friday and Saturday race winners will be racing for $372.72 and Sunday’s race winner will take home $572.72.

Over $100,000 in purse money is available for participants at Presque Isle Downs & Casino Race of Champions Weekend.

All race winners will receive the traditional Race of Champions Silver Bowl.

All events will be detailed in future releases, specific to the division and the event, however, this will be the biggest racing weekend in the region with the ability to include race fans.

Tickets may be purchased for the weekend and will be available at the Lake Erie Speedway ticket office or at www.lakeeriespeedway.com. In the event that there is inclement weather, the event will be postponed to 2023.
