LANCASTER, N.Y. (September 7, 2023) – The 35th Annual US Open Weekend will be taking place September 22-24 at Lancaster Motorplex. The US Open is the pinnacle of Western New York asphalt racing, with its rich history, the who’s who of racing have been victorious in the prestigious event.
US Open Weekend festivities get underway on Friday, September 22 with an open practice session for all classes from 6pm-9:30pm. After the practice session, everyone is invited to the grandstand concourse area for a free concert featuring The 5D Band. The concert is presented by King Wolf Productions.
Racing gets underway on Saturday, September 23 featuring the Monroe Extinguisher Sportsman. New York Super Stock Series, and the Small Block Super Championship Series. The Small Block Super Championship Series (SBS) will be invading Lancaster in a race sponsored by MARDON. The Small Block Supermodifieds race with a 412 cubic inch V8 360 Small Block Chevrolet engine that produces 450 horsepower. They have a 110-inch wheelbase and weigh 2,350 pounds. They race on Hoosier Race Tires and are fueled by Sunoco 110 Octane. The Saturday portion of US Open Weekend will also feature the Mighty TQ Midgets and the Rusty Diamond Cores 4 Cylinders in action on the Lancaster ¼-mile. Saturday, pit gates will open at 12:00pm, practice and grandstand gates open at 2pm, and racing will get underway at 4:30pm. Grandstand admission will be $30 for adults, seniors (65 +) and veterans $25, students 13-16 are $15, and kids 12 and under are admitted FREE.
Sunday racing action will feature the Race of Champions Modified Series in the running of the US Open 125. The Granite State Pro Stocks will also be featured, in their inaugural visit to Lancaster. The Granite State Pro Stocks regulars will be head-to-head against the best in Western New York Late Model racing, all going for $5000 to win for their 75-lap feature, presented by MDP Motorsports Promotions. The Budget RV Outlet of Buffalo Street Stocks and the Rusty Diamond Cores 4 Cylinders will also be in action. The 4 Cylinders will be having their third race of the season on the big track. Pit gates will open at 9am, with practice and grandstand gates opening at 11am, with racing to get underway at 1pm. Sunday grandstand admission prices are $35 for adults, $30 for seniors and veterans, $20 for kids 13-16, and kids 12 and under are admitted FREE. Pit passes are available for $40.
Camping is available all weekend for $20.
