Atlantic City, NJ (JANUARY 25, 2024) – The historic Jim Whelen Boardwalk Hall is set to roar with excitement on January 26 and 27 as the NAPA Auto Parts Atlantic City Indoor Races return, introducing the new Blackjack 21 main event on Friday night. This thrilling race marks the start of a weekend full of high-octane indoor auto racing, culminating with the legendary Gambler’s Classic on Saturday night.
“Blackjack 21 is our way of shaking things up at the Atlantic City Indoor Race,” said Danny Sammons, Race Director for the Indoor Auto Racing Championship. “While preserving the tradition, we’re introducing a fun new race, and a chance to earn points towards our Series Championship. It will be an added element for our racers and fans.”
The Blackjack 21 event will start with group qualifying time trials for all of the Indoor Series racers. The top 28 times will be locked into either a Red or Black Qualifier, while the remaining competitors will move to the “7 Come 11” Heat races – two 11-lap events, where the top 7 finishers will move on and continue their journey to the Blackjack 21.
Just like at the tables, 21 is the magic number all night long. The Red & Black Qualifiers will be 21-laps, with 21 cars starting –and will see the top 10 finishers from each group advancing to the main Blackjack 21 event.
Having set 20 cars from the Red & Black Qualifiers, one Wild Card will be pulled from a special Last Chance Race.
This new qualifying format is designed to intensify competition and offer racers a distinctive path to glory in this 21-lap, 21-car race, where skill, strategy, and a little bit of Lady Luck will be key to claiming the $2,100 prize.
