After what was a huge sold out event in 2023 the NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour again opens its 2024 season at the lighting fast half mile speedway in Florida. $134,037 in posted awards is on the line for the teams in the New Smyrna Beach Area Visitors Bureau 200.
A stellar field of 35 NASCAR Modifieds will battle for 200 laps in the New Smyrna Beach Area Visitors Bureau 200.
As defending race winner and series champion Ron Silk must be the favorite to take the opening night win. Ron was solid week in and week out last year and will look to start the season again in victory lane.
Top contendors to win the New Smyrna Area Vistors Bureau 200 win.
- Ryan Preece #40- NASCAR Cup driver and 2013 series champion is always a threat in his #40 Modified. Ryan’s win in the 2023 season finale at Martinsville Speedway proved he has not lost his touch in an open wheel race car.
- Matt Hirschman #60- Matt in the Pee Dee Motorsports car has more Tour Modified wins at New Smyrna than any other driver in the field. Any time Matt races in his Modified he must be a favorite.
- Justin Bonsignore #51- The three-time champion was in the 2023 championship hunt until the very end but came up just short. He will be loaded for bear with the Pheonix Communications #51 to score an opening day win.
- Austin Beers #64- This young driver opened some eyes with his first series win at Richmond. A third place finish in the championship standing proved he can compete for the championship.
- Doug Coby #7- Doug will only be a part time runner in 2024 but a contender wherever he races. Driving te TBR #7 has always been a winning combination.
- Kyle Bonsignore #22- “The other Bonsignore” Kyle was in contention in several races last year, but circumstances kept him out of victory lane until Langley Speedway and his first win.
- Eric Goodale #58- Eric will also be a part time driver this year but could be surpise winner with his 6th series victory.
- Patrick Emerling #1- A new year and a new team, Patrick is back full time in 2024. With his new team, he will be looking for a fast start.
- Ryan Newman #14- Ryan does not need any introduction and is a threat in whatever he drives. No stranger to the NASCAR Modifieds Ryan will be at New Smyrna to win.
- Jake Johnson #3- While maybe not a top favorite, Jake could be a sleeper as he has shown he can be a top runner in the iconic Boehler’s machine.
- Tommy Catalano #54- Tommy leads the Catalano family with three entries and is back full-time season.
