(Altamahaw, NC)      It was a Kvapil family party Friday night at Ace Speedway on the zMax Cars Tour as Carson Kvapil claimed the late model stock feature and brother Caden took the pro late model event.

Carson Kvapil started eight in the 125-lap event on the 4/10th mile oval and slowly but steadily moved toward the front on each restart during the first half of the race to get himself in position to race for the win.

Carson moved to second past Brenden Queen with less than 30 laps to go before setting his sights on pole sitter, Ryan Millington, who had led the entire race.

After a caution on lap 101, Kvapil was able to get by Millington 1 lap later and begin to pull away for his 2nd win of the season and 3rd at Ace Speedway.

“The car came to us the longer we ran,” Kvapil said after the race. ” This place has been really good to us last year and obviously tonight. We seem to always have good speed here and it showed during the longer runs.”

It has been quite a month for Kvapil who was in position to pick up a win in the Xfinity race at Dover last week driving for JR Motorsports before settling for 3rd, after he started April with a 4th place run at Martinsville.

“Coming that close at Dover really hurts.” Kvapil said. “It was awesome to go there and run like that and contend for the win but when you are leading with ten laps to go and don’t win the race it sucks but there is always more.”

With the win at Ace, Carson is right back in the championship hunt despite missing the Hickory race but he says points racing is not on his mind this early in the season.

“We just want to go out, win races and get good finishes and the points will take care of themselves, “Kvapil said.

Rounding out the top 5 at Ace were Queen, Millington, Bobby McCarthy and Chad McCumbee.

Though he had to settle for second, Brenden Queen was pleased with his run.

“This team fought so hard today and this weekend”, Queen said. ” We tried three packages in practice and finally found a setup that worked for us. I had no doubt that we would rebound after poor runs the last couple of weeks and I am proud of my team’s effort.

Likewise Ryan Millington was happy with his 3rd place run though a little disappointed not winning after leading over 100 laps.

“Overall, it was a great night to come here and be fast”. Millington said. “I can’t complain a bit, we were flying out front and we just got really tight around lap 70 or 80. After checking the car we found an issue with the track bar, so I can’t help but think about what might have been.

Meanwhile Caden Kvapil started on the pole and led all 100 laps in the pro late race to capture his first win of the season.

He was followed to the finish by Spencer Davis, Kaden Honeycutt, William Sawalich and Connor Jones.

The next stop for the zMax Cars Tour will be on May 14th and 15th at North Wilkesboro Speedway during the NASCAR All Star race week when the Pro Late Models will compete for 100 laps and the Late Model Stocks will run a 125 lap feature.
