(Butler Township, PA 5-21-24): Evergreen Raceway is confident the third time will be the charm in trying to get the 2024 season of weekly racing underway. Twice now (May 5 & 10) rain has dampened the scheduled race events planned for those days.
With those attempts well in the rear view mirror all focus now looks to this coming Saturday, May 25, and by all indications it is looking to be a positive forecast.
It will be a full day of activity too, starting with the Evergreen 2-Seater Ride-along during the day and then racing that same evening with heats and features for the 602 Crate Modifieds, Street Stocks, Four Cylinders, Novice and Bangers.
Saturday night is also Hazleton Area School District Employee Night. Any HASD employees who shows their ID badge will be admitted free to the races plus it is Camera and Autograph Night.
From 11:00 am to 2:00 pm Evergreen Raceway will be debuting the Evergreen 2-Seater Ride-along. For a nominal fee of just $50 fans will be given the thrill to get strapped into authentic Late Model stock cars and take part in a competitive 12-lap run against other cars.
Each car is equipped with full safety gear and will be piloted by experienced race drivers who are regulars at the track. The 12-lap runs will mimic a “heat” style race. Four cars at a time will go head to head.
Following the 2-Seater Ride-along there will be an open paid practice ($25 per car) from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm. At 4:30 pm warmups will begin for the respective classes running that evening.
At 5:30 pm the JuiceBox Division racers will take to the track. Once they are done heat races will then commence.
After the completion of qualifying all race cars will be lined up on the front straight for fans to come out and have a meet and greet with all drivers and their cars.
Adult grandstand admission is $12, kids 12 and under are free. Front gates open at 4:00 pm. Pit admission is $40 per person.
