His # 9 Modified was famous all up and down the east coast and Canada. Bob traveled thousands of miles from his home in Watertown New York visting tracks big and small. As a young man I had the pleasure of seeing Bob race at local dirt tracks in the Central NY region.

His cars were always different than many of other cars, arriving on an open trailer to the track and always fast. If Bob was in the field you knew you that if you were going to have a chance to win you would have to earn it.

Bob would amass an amazing 507 victories in a career that would span 3 decades. He has victories at 56 speedways, won 29 track points championships and eight series championships among other awards. He won the 1986 Super Dirt week feature at the Moody Mile at the Syracuse Mile. He is an inductee to the Lowe’s Motor Speedway Walk of Fame, the Northeast Modified Hall of Fame and the Eastern Motorsport Press Association Hall of Fame

Very few race car drivers would come close to those statistics Bob tallied and if not for a motorcycle accident in 1986 he would have continued to race and win. His last race was in the spring of 2006 at the Weedsport Speedway.

The word legend is overused in today’s world but not in the case of Barefoot Bob McCreadie. He left a big mark on short track dirt Modified racing that will never be matched. When you win 507 races there is no question, you were a legend.

RIP Barefoot Bob McCreadie.
