SEEKONK, Mass. — As the summer heats up at Seekonk Speedway, June 21-22 will be filled with competition in the Everett’s Auto Parts Triple Crown Series. On Fast Friday, all five divisions will compete in their first round of Triple Crown racing, with the Sport 4’s, Legends Cars and Pure Stocks all going for 30 laps, and both Bandolero divisions set for 15 laps.
On NASCAR Saturday, the second round of the Triple Crown Series starts, with the Sport Trucks set for 35 laps and the Late Models running for 45 laps. The battle to make the Triple Crown Final Four is on – as drivers chase glory in weekly feature racing. On NASCAR Saturday, the Pro Stocks and Sportsman will also be back on the track to fill out a full card of action.
With Fast Friday raining out last week, drivers had a little bit of an extra chance to get their cars ready to go. The Everett’s Auto Parts Triple Crown Series openers for the Seekonk Grand Prix Bandolero Bandits, Outlaws, Sport 4s, Nick’s Pit Stop Legends Cars and Helger’s Pure Stocks headline Friday night racing, beginning at 7 p.m. for round four of the year.
In both the Bandits and the Outlaws, the track has welcomed multiple new winners this season – including names like David Bernier, Mason Silva, Luka Dib, Mike Hanafin and Brody Wakefield. In the Sport 4s, with three different winners in three weeks, there are still plenty of options out there for someone to make it four, hoping to join Matt Pion, Crystal Murray and Tyler Duhancik.
Like the Sport 4s, both of the Pure Stocks and Legends Cars have seen three different winners in three weeks. Some names to watch to continue the trend in the Pure Stocks include Ethan Souza, Bobby Bettencourt III and Greg Perry, among others. In the Legends Cars, look for names like Mason Tessier, Josh Parsons, Chase Silvia, Rodney Dowless and others.
On NASCAR Saturday, the first Triple Crown race in the Sport Trucks on June 8 went to Radical Rick Martin, who has two wins in four 2024 events. Mike Duarte and DJ Thibeault finished on the podium with him in the first Triple Crown event, giving them a strong chance to try and make the Final Four this week.
Similar to the NASCAR Cup Series playoff system, the Triple Crown Series Final Four is made up of the winners in the first two Triple Crown events and the top-two points drivers from those events that did not win. If Martin was to sweep both of the first two, the other three would all be taken from the points. Once they get to the Final Four, the driver who beats the others in the final race wins the Everett’s Triple Crown title. Other names to watch in the Trucks include Tim Bolger Jr., recent winner Jake Vanada, Amy Arsenault, Darryl Church, Tom Scully III and Mike Cavallaro.
The first Late Model Triple Crown race went right down to the wire on June 1, with Jacob “Rowdy” Burns winning a wild one over Charlie Rose and Luke Lebrun. These three drivers have frequented the front of the field this season – with Lebrun picking up the most recent win and Rose all around the top-five weekly. Other names to watch? Opening day winner Richie Murray, Chase Belcher, Mark Jenison, Connor Souza and more.
The Helger’s Sportsman will also be on track Saturday – chasing victory in their 25-lap feature – along with the Pro Stocks, set for 40 laps. In the Sportsman, Adam Pettey has two straight wins, but the last one came right down to the wire. He had to race against Randy Moretti for the win, taking the lead from him very late in the race. Colby Lambert may be one driver to watch in the Sportsman – he has top-five finishes in all races so far this year. Look out for Scott Serydynski Jr., Doug Benoit, Josh Hedges, Tyler Almeida and more on Saturday in their exciting main event.
In the Pro Stocks, Bobby Pelland III is coming off a rather dominant win in the opener of the Everett’s Triple Crown Series. He will have to contend with Rookie of the Year driver Vinnie Arrenegado, a former two-time track Late Model champion, who has finished second in his first three career Pro Stock events. Dylan Estrella and Colbey Fournier already have wins this year, while two-time champion Mark Jenison, Mike Brightman, Jeramee Lillie and others will be looking to find Victory Lane this week.
Fast Friday racing begins at 7 p.m., while NASCAR Saturday action takes the green flag at 6 p.m.
