For the second time this season, Justin Bonsignore will visit Monadnock Speedway this Saturday night. The NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour returns to the New Hampshire track for the Duel at the Dog 250, as the season officially hits the halfway point.
The race will mark the second of three in the Whelen Granite State Short Track Cup, a special bonus program for the Tour. It also marks a different race compared to when the series was at Monadnock in May.
This event will include the option for teams to put at least one tire on during the race, as part of controlled pit stops. If drivers pull into the pit area, they will return to the race in the same order they entered the pits. However, those who stay out will assume the front of the field. This means the race will have an added strategy element.
Bonsignore has five wins in 12 career Monadnock starts, along with 10 top-five finishes and over 400 laps led. The track was repaved prior to this season.
Bonsignore has two wins in the first seven races of the season, including last time out, at New Hampshire Motor Speedway. His 42nd career win moved him into a tie with Ted Christopher for third on the all-time wins list.
“All of us on the team are looking forward to getting back to Monadnock and improving on our finish from May,” Bonsignore said. “We didn’t get the results we were looking for and our team has been working hard to make some adjustments and be ready to go. This will be a different style of race with the tire strategy, but you still need to have a good handling car and be there at the end of a long 250 laps.”
The schedule for race day at Monadnock includes one NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour practice session from 3:15-4 p.m., followed by Mayhew Tools qualifying at 6:15 p.m. The green flag for the Duel at the Dog 250 is set for 8 p.m. Tickets are available in advance at MonadnockSpeedway.com and will also be available at the gates on race day. For those who can’t make it, the event will air live on FloRacing.TV.
