OSWEGO, NY (July 20, 2024) – In an exciting 25-lap J&S Paving 350 Super feature event at Oswego Speedway’s ‘Friday Night Lights’ portion of the 2-Day Super Spectacle presented by Holiday Inn Express & Suites Oswego and NBT Bank, Kyle Perry emerged victorious, clinching the $1,000 top prize in commanding fashion.
Rookie Noah Ratcliff and Perry led the field to the green flag, with Perry inching ahead from the outside to take the early lead. Ratcliff settled into second, while fourth-starting Brendan Young maneuvered past Nick Barzee to claim third. Fellow rookie Griffin Miller quickly followed suit, overtaking Barzee for fourth before the completion of the first lap.
Points leader Josh Sokolic, starting from the seventh position, wasted no time making his presence felt. By lap 3, he had worked his way past both Barzee and Talen Hawksby to crack the top five. Sokolic continued his charge, moving up to fourth by passing Miller on lap 7, and next getting underneath Young for third on lap 10.
As the laps wound down, Sokolic closed in on second-running Ratcliff, who was delivering by far his best performance in a 350 Supermodified. With just two laps remaining, Sokolic made a bold move on the outside, securing the second position and relegating Ratcliff to third. However, Perry was untouchable this Friday evening, cruising to an 11-second victory over Sokolic, Ratcliff, Young, and Barzee, who rounded out the top five.
This triumph marked Perry’s third career win at Oswego Speedway and his second of the 2024 season. In victory lane, Perry said “The car took off good in clean air. I knew with the 6 and 79 starting so far back, I had to try to get out there and run clean and consistent laps and build a big lead, and that’s what we did. The car ran good tonight, so I’m happy with it. I’ve got to thank Bellinger Auto, Gibby’s Irish Pub, TGR Motorsports, Radical Racegear, 21 Tequila, and Scott Jeffrey’s Performance. A lot of people get us here. My crew, the Bellingers, Doug, Jared, my Dad, for coming back every week and trying to make this thing go a little bit faster. We’ll come back tomorrow night and try to do it again.”
With the win, Perry leads the Super Spectacle Weekend standings with 108 points, followed by Sokolic with 104, Ratcliff with 96, Barzee with 94, and Young with 93. GTR Promotions is awarding $500 to the overall weekend champion in points, while Circle T Ready Mix is putting up $300 for second place. Both nights of racing also count towards the regular season point standings.
The Super Spectacle Weekend continues on Saturday night, July 20, with Compass Federal Credit Union and Rock Stream Retreat Autograph Night, featuring the Novelis Supermodifieds, Pathfinder Bank SBS, and the J&S Paving 350 Supers. Warmups and grandstand gates open at 4 PM, with autographs, the bike giveaway, and big wheel racing at 5:15 PM, followed by heat racing at 6:30 PM.
