The vicious cycle that is the weather in the Northeast reared its ugly head again with on and off rain forecast for Wednesday forced Riverhead Raceway management to postpone the midweek program. With the postponement the track finds itself in the unique position of presenting two consecutive Wednesday night events July 14th with a School Bus Demo, and Wednesday July 21st with the annual Back to School monster Truck spectacular. Racing resumes this Saturday August 10th, featuring the I Love America Night Fireworks presentation and NASCAR Advance Auto Parts Weekly Series racing.
Long Island race teams & fans hungry for racing are holding out hope, along with Riverhead Raceway management that Debby keeps pulling to the west, and/or speeds up allowing the I Love America Night program to proceed Saturday. Joining the Fireworks spectacular are the NASCAR Tour Type Modifieds who’ll go to post in the Cecil Palm Tree 66. A Kids Big Wheel Race kicks off the festivities that includes six other Advance Auto Parts Weekly Series divisions. Opening ceremonies are schedules for 6:30 pm.
Wednesday August 14th the second School Bus Demolition Derby of 2024 will wreak havoc on the historic quarter mile speed plant. The “Redneck Renegade” Jon Calfa seeks his second win in as many events but will have to contend with “The Z-Man” Ryan Zukowski, Frank “The Tank” Dumicich Jr. and the always colorful & unpredictable Johnny Vullo among others. The TK Figure Eights, Super Pro Trucks, Bock Auto INEX Bandoleros and a 4/6-Cylinder Gut & Go Enduro will provide wall to wall racing excitement. Opening ceremonies are 6:30 pm with the JuiceBox Racers to run their feature shortly after.
One week later, the annual Back to School Monster Truck extravaganza unfolds Wednesday August 21st. KSR Motorsports is lining up another car crushing performance including slap wheelies from these 1500 horsepower machines. Young and old alike will marvel as they watch on as the trucks flatten cars flatter than a morning pancake and throw in a few cyclones for good measure. On the racing ledger for August 21st are the Mini Stocks, Bock Auto INEX Bandoleros, Truck Enduro, 8-Cylinder Enduro and a 4/6-Cylinder Enduro. Opening ceremonies are at 6:30 pm.
