Today was the day to celebrate Thanksgiving with family and friends. Now that Thanksgiving dinner is over, November 29th- November 30th is Turkey Derby time at Wall Stadium Speedway, a tradition started over half a century ago.

Being a bit older I remember thinking that a race in late November in the cold weather state of New Jersey was a crazy idea. Well, as 50 years of Turkey Derbies has proven it was a brilliant idea. Large fields of race cars and huge throngs of fans pack Wall Stadium Speedway year in and year out. Cold weather be dammed, teams and fans bundle up and make the pilgrimage to the Jersey shore oval for one last race weekend in the Northeast.

This year will be no different, cold but clear weather will not scare anyone from missing the biggest race weekend of the year at Wall Stadium Speedway.

10 divisions of race cars from headliner Tour Modifieds to ATQMRA Midgets will fill the pit areas on Saturday and Sunday. Pit Gates open at 6:30 am both days with early morning practices starting at 8:20, qualifying starting at 11:30 am with features starting approximately 2:00 pm.

Matt as always will come prepared to hold off drivers like Andrew Krause, Patrick Emerling, Blake Barney, Timmy Solomito, fan favorite Jimmy Blewett, Austin Beers and almost 30 other drivers. This year drivers will represent Wall Stadium, Riverhead Raceway, the ROC, the WMT, Monaco Modifieds, Bridgeport Speedway, The Smart Modifieds and Bowman Grey Stadium.

The Tour Modified Thomas J. Wanick Jr. Memorial Race 150 winner will take home a cool $15,000 with last place paying $2,000.00. The total TD 51 payout will be just shy of $80,000.

Matt Hirschman will also take on the Wall Modifieds with its $6,000 to win 100 lap feature.
