From what started out as Mike Van Houten Jr. helping deliver Holiday toys to the kids and families at The Ronald McDonald House has turned into a yearly event beyond his wildest dreams. This year will be Mike’s 8th season of gift giving and he shows no sign of slowing down.
Once again in 2024 Mike will pull a trailer of gifts donated by so many generous people for the kids to The Ronald McDonald House in New Hyde Park. That yearly trip brings so much joy to those who are sick and their families that need to be with their children.
This Saturday December 14th Mike will again have his Riverhead Raceway 3V INEX Legends car on display at Buzz Chew Chevrolet in East Hampton. He will be there from 10-4 to help collect toys for sick children. This Saturday will give people the opportunity to drop off unwrapped wrapped new toys and gifts that will bring cheer to a sick child’s holiday.
We stopped by last year at The Ronald McDonald’s House to lend Mike a hand setting up and delivering their presents. The sheer joy on the face of the children that received the gifts should inspire anyone who is able to donate to such a worthy cause. It was an amazing sight, seeing a full trailer of toys and gifts that came from so many good people.
If anyone should have the true title of Santa Clause, it is surely Mike Van Houten Jr. Mike unselfishly says “he is blessed to be able to give back to the community and this unbelievable charity”. Actually the kids are blessed to have people like Mike that make a tough time a bit more bearable his hard work and generosity.
Additionally to collecting toys at Buzz Chew you can reach out to Mike on Facebook to donate.
