(Butler Township, Pa. 2-1-25) Evergreen Raceway has without question hosted great divisions over the years and still does, however, it stands to reason that the Tour Type Modifieds remain the premier class and for 2025 the powerful pavement pounders will be back, running in six feature events.
Starting in May and concluding in October with the annual King of the Green, the Tour Type Modifieds will headline the day’s action.
First up will be on May 4 with the following dates on June 15, July 13, August 10, September 7 and the finale on October 25. The first four dates are Sunday afternoons, with the exception of the King of the Green event on October 25, which is scheduled for Saturday afternoon.
“It’s important to our fans that the Tour Type Mods are part of the yearly schedule at Evergreen. Those cars have been part of this track since day one with guaranteed great races whenever we host them and we owe it to our fans and those drivers to always make certain that they are here,” said Evergreen owner/promoter Jason Makarewicz.
“To be honest last year was tough because most of the dates we had planned to run the Tour Type Modifieds got weathered out and we ended up with only running three times and one of those races we actually added a date.”
It is noteworthy that last year, Matt Hirschman, a six-time Evergreen Tour Type Modified champion, secured his 52nd victory in the class by winning the first feature on June 30. The following races, held on October 6 and 19, were scored by two promising teenagers, Jayden Harman and Paulie Hartwig III, respectively. Notably, Hartwig’s victory occurred during the King of the Green event.
Four-time Evergreen Modified champion Brian DeFebo holds the record for most wins in class with 58.
Evergreen Raceway will start 2025 in three weeks’ time, on Saturday afternoon, February 22 at 1:00 pm, with a 100-lap 4/6-cylinder Gut-n-Go Enduro, plus an 8-cylinder Enduro feature. A second Enduro will be held March 22.
Weekly point racing at the 1/3-mile paved oval in St. Johns begins with the Winter Thaw presented by Foley Action Track Opening Day on Sunday afternoon, April 13.
The Winter Thaw will be the first of four specially promoted events at Evergreen under the direction of Rich Tobias and will feature the All PRO SpeedSTRs, 602 Crate Modifieds, Street Stocks, Slingshot and Four Cylinders.
The day prior to the Winter Thaw there will be an open practice on Saturday, April 12, for all classes of cars from noon to 4:00 pm or longer if necessary.
Additionally, that day will be the Circle Track Racing Experience. Participants can choose to drive or ride along in either a Modified or Late Model stock car.
Also, an Anything Swap Meet/Yard Sale will take place. Individuals who wish to sell or trade items are invited to participate. Vendor spots are available for $25 each.
Throughout the same day, the first Evergreen Raceway Food Fare will take place, showcasing a wide variety of food truck vendors.
