BRIDGEPORT, NJ – Enter thy Kingdom.

Bridgeport Motorsports Park, dubbed the ‘Kingdom of Speed’ for its wide, high-banked corners and epic slide jobs, rolls out the red carpet for the Bob Hilbert Sportswear Short Track Super Series (STSS) Fueled By Sunoco this Saturday (March 22).

The ’60 Over Special’ honoring legendary driver, and later promoter, Doug Hoffman takes center stage as the second Northeast dirt Modified event of the season for the series.

Bridgeport hosts the STSS for the ninth time in history on its third different configuration: the current four-tenths-mile oval, the former three-eighths-mile ‘inner oval’ and the original five-eighths-mile layout.

Modifieds, competing for NJ Quality Drywall South Region points, race 60 laps for $6,060 to win, recognizing Hoffman’s longtime ’60 Over’ number.

“It is an honor for the series to reflect back on the legacy of Doug Hoffman,” series organizer Brett Deyo said. “I had the pleasure of watching Doug’s on-track success and later working with him when he took over Bridgeport.  He was a one-of-a-kind, determined individual.”

Sportsman race for their largest winner’s share of the season – $4,444 – after 44 laps around the South Jersey venue. The Sportsman race in Event No. 2 of the Belmont’s Garage South Region.

Last weekend at Pa.’s Port Royal Speedway, Long Island’s Dillon Steuer shocked the Modified world with a $12,000 victory over Matt Sheppard in the 60-lap ‘Speed Showcase’ event. Steuer now leads the NJ Quality Drywall South Region standings into Bridgeport for the first time in his career over a talented lineup that includes Sheppard, Mike Mahaney, Alex Payne and Matt Stangle.

Sicklerville, N.J.’s Stephen Kemery now tops the STSS Sportsman Belmont’s Garage standings after his $4,000 conquest at Port Royal. Kemery is trailed by Joe Toth, James Hill, Paulie Hartwig III and Donovan Lussier.
