Race Week: STSS Set for Port Royal ‘Speed Showcase’ This Weekend

PORT ROYAL, PA – For the first time in the Northeast this season, it’s race week for Bob Hilbert Sportswear Short Track Super Series (STSS) Fueled By Sunoco.

This Friday and Saturday (March 14 and 15), Port Royal Speedway hosts the ‘Speed Showcase’ for the STSS, highlighted by a 60-lap, $12,000-to-win Modified program with a purse structure totaling $73,000.

For STSS Modifieds, the 60-lap event serves as Round No. 1 of the NJ Quality Drywall South Region title fight, the first of two events scheduled for March.

STSS Sportsman kick off the Belmont’s Garage South Region in a 40-lap, $4,000-to-win program.

Joining their open-wheel counterparts are the popular Pro Stocks of New York State and Canada with a 25-lap, $1,250-to-win program on the docket.

This weekend’s event at Port Royal marks the 11th STSS Modified event in the history of the Juniata County venue. Events have ranged from 40 to 200 laps in distance since the series debut in ‘18.

Seven drivers have recorded STSS Modified victories at Port Royal: Matt Sheppard (March 16, 2024, Oct. 15, 2022 and Oct. 15, 2020); Mat Williamson (March 21, 2021 and Oct. 17, 2020); Ryan Godown (March 20, 2022); Stewart Friesen (Oct. 16, 2021); Mike Mahaney (Oct. 14, 2021); Anthony Perrego (March 24, 2019); and Ryan Watt (Oct. 12, 2018).

STSS Sportsman have competed at Port Royal on four occasions, with victories going to Logan Watt (March 16, 2024 and Oct. 15, 2022), Stephen Kemery (Oct. 16, 2021) and Brian Krummel (Oct. 18, 2020).
