Riverhead, NY Apr. 27th
By Bob Finan
Mother nature scored her first triumph of 2025 as rain washed out the second pre-season practice day at Riverhead Raceway Saturday. Focus now turns to this coming Saturday May 3rd when the 75th Anniversary season of racing kicks off with the NASCAR Pack the Track Night for the Advance Auto Parts Weekly Series. With the washout Saturday, resulting in the loss of safety tech inspections, as well tire and fuel sales, track GM John Ellwood has adjusted the itinerary for Saturday’s opener.
“We are going to bump things up itinerary wise for the opener” John Ellwood revealed Sunday, “we want to assure everything flows well in the area of safety tech inspections, as well tire & fuel sales”. NASCAR Modified and Eagle Chevrolet Crate Modified trailers will enter the pits at 8:30, with a 9:00 am opening set for the pit registration windows. At 10:00 am the pit gates will open in earnest for all race teams, allowing for four and a half hours for the inspections and tire & fuel sales before practice starts at 2:30 pm.
The NASCAR Modifieds will headline the Pack the Track lid lifter running a 50-lap feature event. John Beatty Jr. of Merrick and his car owner Mark S. Mina will be aiming for their third consecutive championship in 2025 with their MSM Elite Motorsports/Elite Sound Studios/Premier Stagehands Fury. The Late Models (25), Eagle Chevrolet Crate Modifieds (25), TK Figure Eights (15), Blunderbusts (20), Super Pro Trucks (20) and INEX Legend Race Cars (20) will all compliment the NASCAR Modifieds Saturday.
Spectator gates will swing open at 4:00 pm whit qualifying to commence at 4:40 pm or at the conclusion of the opening night drivers meeting. General admission is $30 for adults, $15 for kids 6-12, 5 & under are free. Pit passes are $45 with a NASCAR license, $65 without.
