(Butler Township, Pa. 5-13-25) On Saturday evening, May 24, Evergreen Raceway looks to begin weekly racing at the paved 1/3-mile oval in St. Johns.
However, with this being the third time attempting to get things rolling, track management has decided, as a precaution, to add a rain date, which will be the following afternoon, May 25, with racing starting at 2:00 pm if needed.
“We’ve been hit pretty hard as far as the weather goes in trying to get our season underway and at this rate, we don’t want to take any chances, so we feel it is in everyone’s best interest to put in a Sunday rain date just in case,” said Evergreen promoter/owner Jason Makarewicz.
“The first two tries as well as well as a few practice days have were plagued by poor weather and we are all anxious at this point to get some racing in. We feel this also gives teams enough time to adjust plans if needed. Hopefully it won’t come to that but at least we’ll now have an option.”
Saturday, May 24, will be a busy day at the track as activities get underway earlier that day with karting at Little Evergreen Raceway starting at 1:00 pm.
That same evening, beginning at 6:00 pm, it will be Camera and Autograph Fan Appreciation Night. Fans will be admitted into the main grandstands for just $8 and during intermission there will be a meet and greet on the front straight with all drivers and their cars.
602 Crate Modifieds, Late Models, Harry’s U-Pull-It Street Stocks, Himmer Graphics 4-Cylinders and McNulty Funeral Home Novices will be in action.
Evergreen Raceway, a 1/3-mile paved oval in St. Johns, Butler Township, Luzerne County, hosts motorsports events from February to November, making it a top entertainment choice in Northeast Pennsylvania.
