Williamson, NY – (May 15, 2025) – Due to an unfavorable forecast, continued inclement weather, and persistently wet grounds, Race of Champions management has elected to cancel the open practice scheduled for Friday, May 16 at Spencer Speedway in Williamson, NY.
The facility will now officially open on Friday, May 23, with the Race of Champions Modified Series competing in the 34th Annual Tribute to Tommy Druar and Tony Jankowiak, part of the 70th Annual Season Opener.
“We are making this decision based on utilizing our resources wisely,” stated Joe Skotnicki, Race of Champions. “There are varying forecasts, and we understand that. However, the most consistent models show that the grounds and track will be impacted at some point tomorrow. On race nights, we make decisions based on different criteria, but in this case, we’re looking at it a bit differently. The group that helps us maintain the grounds has worked incredibly hard to ensure the facility is in top shape. When we open for the season, we want fans and teams to enjoy their efforts—not risk undoing them with unnecessary damage due to poor conditions.”
